My dd got a small sliver in her knee today, I tried to remove it carefully but a piece broke off (very very tiny) and is still in her knee. It is very close to the surface, and right away i tried to get it out with a needle, while holding her down by myself...haha...no such luck. Then I rinsed in with hydrogen peroxide and applied tea tee oil. And then when she was sleeping I tried to get it out again, and I almost got it when she woke up, so I stopped. My dh wants me to just leave it and says that her body will push it out by itself, but my mom and sister say I should try to get it out. I would prefer to get it out as I'm afraid it will just get pushed in deeper, but how??? And if it doesn't come out by itself then what? I don't want to irritate it, but I don't want it to get infected by leaving it in. Could I get it out with anything other than a pin prick? : yeesh. thanks for any suggestions! ~Holly

If it is wood, then try to get it out again when she is sleeping, or have someone else help you. I'd use the same method you are using. I've never had a wood splinter or metal splinter work its way out on its own. Good luck!

Thank you Leafylady. I still haven't gotten it out. I have tried, but when I try when she is sleeping it is very hard to poke at her skin without her waking, and to do it while she is awake is impossible. I am hoping it will come out a bit more so that I can get it easier. But does anyone know if it is bad if I can't get it out? It is very tiny, just the speck end actually, but just that it is there is worrying me. It isn't red at all, and isn't infected in any way. any other suggestions for helping it come to the surface more? thanks ~Holly
