Does anyone know what it means when a doctor has a "D.O." after their name, in place of "M.D."?

Doctor of Osteopathy

It's equivilent to an MD in the US. Different schools, though.

It's a slightly different credential in the UK.

Theoretically, A DO can perfom adjustments (like a chiro) but it depends on the individual doc. My son's ped. is a DO, adn he does pay more attention to the spine, joints, etc than other docs I have seen.

They can do surgery and prescribe drugs.
