ALso posted in Toddler forum but got no response so I thought I'd try here...

My ds just started in the last few weeks what seems to be excessive eye blinking unrelated to anything that we can tell, i.e. no vision problems, eye redness or discharge, etc. We are seeing our Ped tomorrow but will probably get referred to a Ped Eye Doc for a vision exam. I am wondering if this is something that anyone else had experienced? We have been ALL OVER the net looking up possible causes - probably only driving ourselves crazy but it just seems wierd... sometimes it looks volutary and sometimes it looks involutary, but it has definitely escalaed in the last week or so - which also cooincides with a round of anti-biotics that he was taking for an ear infection diagnosed 10 days ago. But he was beginning to do this blinking a bit before the illness - so it may be cooincidental... sorry for the ramble.. any feedback would be great - Thanks

My son did this. It was just a tic. He went through it twice. I think he was 2 the first time then 4 the last time. He's 5 now.

I did that as a tic as well, as a child. I don't do it anymore, although I have always had varying tics.

Thanks for the responses... I have since done some more research on it and it seems that tics like that are not uncommon in children and most go away and are not symptoms of anything more serious. We are going ahead with the Ped Eye Doc appointment, but the more I observe it, the more it seems like a tic and not an eye issue... I guess we would get him looked at by a neurologist if that is the case just to check for other signs of any else (Tourettes, etc.) He doesn't show any developmental delays so i am thinking that it is a transient thing... Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
