I have bought several and haven't found one I just think is the best. But I do like Mommy Diagnostics by Shonda Parker. It is easy to read and has lots of recommended reading. It is also relatively inexpensive.
for sore throat she recommends rest, humidifier, Zinc lozengers(23mg every 2-4hrs), hot chicken soup, and Echinacea (500-1000mg every 2-4 hrs)
I also recommend any lemon tea and lots of water and vitamin C enriched foods.
