I am so lost as to whats going on. My 9 year old came in crying complaining of neck pain. He has no other symtoms except this. Tylenol and a hot pack didn't work. I could get ahold of my dad (a doc) so I freaked out and ust sent DH and him off to the ER. I hate the ER, I don't trust them, but I didn't know what else to do. Dose anyone know what the heck could be wrong? I am so worried and panicked right now.

it could be something as simple as strained muscles, or it could be something more serious like meningitis.

Not too fond of Er myself but with the neck pain you describe I would be there too. Like another poster said severe neck pain is one of the signs of menningitis although of course it could be something minor too. I hope all is well.

Menegitis was my first thought too, but he dosen't have a feaver, swolen lymph nodes, light sensativity, etc. None of the classic signs of that. Just neck pain that was making him cry. Dh is still at the hospital and DS hadn't seen the doctor when I called him 45 minutes ago....sigh

They said a strain or pinched nerve in his neck. I am going to try to get him in to the accupuncturist/chiropractor tommorrow.

I'm glad it was something minor.
