I'm wondering if you've had success with them and to what extent. I'm also wondering if it's o.k. to use them while nursing. Are they o.k. for children?

TIA,
Cristina

I believe they are okay to use during nursing. I have not had any success with them, but I have seen many ladies on here say that they work. It can't hurt to try. I hope they work better for you than they do for me.

Flower essences are prefectly safe to use while breastfeeding. My DH (who owns a company that manufactures and sells all kinds of essences) even makes a special one for lactation.

Flower essences can be very benefitial, but honestly Bach Flowers aren't the best out there. My DH's company has over 1500 difference essences and combinations for many, many conditions and is always getting calls, letters and emails from customers whose lives have been changed by taking essences. I had better stop here before this is labeled spam!

Oh they are fine for children too. DH has a line of essences especially for children.

We use Bach's Rescue Remedy for stress, illness and irritability. It does seem to help take the edge off
I've also had success with the Mustard remedy for depressive days ("gloominess") with no cause.

uccomomma--feel free to pm me the information. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I like to have options :-)

I need to do something for myself and for ds 10yo.

How do you use them? Are they ingested or do you smell them?

I have tried Bach's Rescue Remedy. I place 3-4 drops under my tongue. I believe the flower essences are the same. You can put them directly under your tongue or dilute in a small amount of water.

Anyway, I haven't found the Rescue Remedy to be very helpful. In fact, when i take it, all I can taste is the alcohol that it's got in it. Makes me feel like I'm putting a little dab of whiskey under my tongue

Whiskey sounds good about now and not just enough for under my tongue!!!!

Thanks for the input, I think it's probably worth a try anyway. The way I look at it, it can't hurt and it's not terribly expensive. Who knows? Maybe it will help.

I just have to do something--I'm feeling totally overwhelmed right now and ds 10 yo is raging on a daily basis. Maybe there is one to help him calm down.

We used some when my oldest son was 2. We made up an elixer of about 4 remedies at the time. We noticed such drastic results that we went out and bought appropriate remedies for ourselves at the time. (I don't remember it being as drastic with us!) I carry a bottle of rescue remedy with me often. I have extreme doctor and hospital anxiety... and 2 kiddos with severe asthma, so I see far too many doctors. I really think that it helps.... maybe its psychosomatic... but.... eh.... whatever works!
I thought about it when I was taking it first and maybe just bringing your attention to the issue at hand 4 times a day is probably a good thing. I would have been convinced it was all in my head if I hadnt witnessed it working so well on my son.

use them and LOVE them. work especially well on kids.

very interested in trying other essences, but just haven't yet - only bach.

MUCH success with them, and like homeopathy, they work on a sub-molecular level, so you won't taste anything but the BRANDY, which is the transfer medium, as is the sugar pellet in a homeopathic tablet remedy.

so wonderful and safe for novices to experiment with. it's unfortunate the people who didn't have any luck because they ARE so safe and simple - a wonderful way to help yourself without a lot of fuss or expense.

I love Rescue Remedy and was told by a homepath that it was safe to use during pregnancy & nursing. I have depression w/anxiety and it will actually help me calm down faster when I start to have an anxiety attack.

I love Rescue Remedy! I usually carry a bottle around with me because I have panic attacks and it works well for me.

So it's brandy in it instead of whiskey huh? Geez. Guess I was off. Maybe I'll have to get mine out and give it another whirl. Lately I've been drinking Oatstraw tea. Not sure if it's helping or not...I think it is...

Brandy works for me! LOL. Seriously, thank you all for your input. I will try to order something this week and get started.
