DS has had a stomach bug (I'm thinking rotavirus from the symptoms) since Saturday and yesterday I came down with it. Anything I eat comes right back up, and most of the water I drink too. I spent last night sleeping on the floor in front of the toilet.

The problem is, I'm HUNGRY! But I know when I eat it will come back up. I'm also 20 weeks pregnant and I feel like I'm getting dehydrated. I can't go to the ER for fluids because I don't have anyone to watch my son. My DH is deployed, all my family is on the other coast, and the 2 people that I know well enough to watch DS also have kids and since DS is still sick I don't want to get them sick either.

Any advice, mamas? I'm having a really hard time right now.

So sorry to hear you're sick. No fun at all.

To get over this stomach virus quickly, go get some high quality probiotics (in refrigerated supplement section) and take a dose every hour until your symptoms resolve. Make sure it's a probiotic and not just acidophilus.

Start out taking with just a little bit of water so you have a better chance of keeping them down. After 5-6 doses, you'll be able to add more fluids and eventually some solids (toast, rice, etc).

After your symptoms are resolved, take the recommended dose of the probiotic for another week.

Sorry Mama! I hope you and your DS are feeling better soon!

Try hot chicken broth - just sip it. If that sits okay, maybe try chicken and rice soup (rice is easier to digest than wheat noodles- I like the Wolfgang Puck brand for store bought). Applesauce. Mashed potatoes. Rice cooked in broth. Bananas. Toast. V8 juice (I like that when I feel ill!). Grapes or other fruit - not citrus though, that might upset your stomach more. Scrambled egg?

Any of that sound appealing?

The hot salty broth really goes a long way to help you feel rejuvenated!
