Has anyone experienced the smell of ammonia in DC's bowel movements? I know this is more common in urine, but DD's diapers have a very strong ammonia smell-- but only when she has a BM. I asked the ped and he said it was most likely from urine, but I never smell this odor when she just has a pee diaper. I'm starting to get a little concerned because the only information I have found online about this indicates liver dysfunction! DD is 5 months old and exclusively breastfed and otherwise totally healthy. I just don't know what to think about this but it's been going on for at least 2 months (maybe longer?) and I don't want to ingore it if it's something to be concerned about.

Ever-evolving mama to my beautiful Brynn, and my little dimple-face Noah .

if u think it could be liver problems , go back 2 the ped & insist on testing.

this may be dumb question, but is it the diaper that is smelling, or are you sure it is the product of elimination (aka poop )???

If you are cd-ing, you may need to strip your dipes or use a water softener additive to get rid of the smell. Just curious. My ds's dipes got this way all of a sudden a while back and the ammonia smell was enough to knock me over!!!
