See post #3 below for the update

Lately I've been having some weird pains in my lower abdomen that feel like gas. But they aren't going away the way that gas pains usually do. By that I mean that have them regularly, but only feel them a few times a day. I mainly feel them sometimes when I sit down hard or suddenly, or when I poop, but I'm not constipated or anything. Usually when I have gas pains it's when I'm constipated. They don't feel like hemorrhoids, and my stomach doesn't hurt, it's just this persistant gas pain and it's freaking me out a bit.

Has anyone ever had anything like this? I will probably go to the doctor soon to get it checked out, but wanted to see if anyone here knew what it was.

So my regular doctor did a rectal exam and didn't find anything, but she referred me to a gastro-intestinal specialist. The first appointment I could get was two months later! The GI specialist thought I might have an anal fissure, but when she did the exam she found a slight pocket and bulge that might be a rectocele. I have to have a colonoscopy in order to diagnose this for sure.

If I do have a rectocele, it's a little scary, because I've only been pregnant once, and only for 8 weeks (had a miscarriage). I'm worried about my pelvic floor strength.

On the good side, it doesn't look like I have any scary polyps, and if I find out that I'm pregnant BEFORE the colonoscopy, I can go ahead with the pregnancy-no big deal is what the GI specialist said. That was my main worry, that there was something wrong that would mean putting off our TTC plans indefinitely.

I'm a little freaked out now about childbirth: if I have a big weakness in the fasciia in the wall between my vagina and rectum, does that put me at a greater risk for C-section? One of the sources I looked did say that difficult childbirth can be a consequence of having a rectocele.

Has anyone here ever had a rectocele?
