I think that this is the type of thing that you (he) can only tell with time.
You might want to have him check with his dr, but I'm guessing that it would be a "wait and see" type of response.

I have tinnitus (from medication side-effect, not noise). It's not nice.

Buy him "ear muffs" for Christmas. My dad got a new pair every few years from my mom. He was good about wearing them when they were handy and comfortable.

DS, 10/07. Allergies: peanut, egg, wheat. We've added dairy back in. And taken it back out again. It causes sandpaper skin with itchy patches and thrashing during sleep. Due w/ #2 late April, 2012.
