Please help me not freak out!

At my well-woman exam, after examining me and taking a pap, my midwife remarked, "I am concerned. It looks like you have two canker sores on your cervix. I've seen herpes sore and that's not it, becuase I've seen herpes before. It looks different. I thought it might bleed when I touched it. It looks almost eroded. You should probably take your pap results to your GYN and have him take a look. I have never seen this before."

WHAT???????

I cannot think of what it could be. Her business is baby-catching and healthy women so I don't fault her for not being able to indentify this. But I am scared silly. I have never had an abnormal pap in my life. We are expecting the pap results mid-week.

Any thoughts?

I get cervical polyps all the time. I've been told that they look strange...almost like teeth on my cervix. They're completely benign.

Maybe it could be that.

Maybe?
Do polyps come and go by themselves?

Do you get mouth sores on the INSIDE of your mouth as well?

Ever had brief vision problems at the same time?

Arthritic problems/joint pain that comes and goes?

I remember when I was in grad school, the nurse practitioner said that I had some sores in my vagina, not sure if they were on the cervix though. I remember being really sore when I had sex during that time too. She did a herpes test and it wasn't herpes and I guess they went away because no one else ever saw anything like that.

I was having problems with yeast infections and I always wondered if they were some kind of sore caused by yeast.

Anyway, mine were nothing and went away. So hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

gurumama -

I occasionally get canker sore in my mouth.
I've worn glasses since I was 10.
I get sore knees and ankles the week before my period (always have since I started my cycle at 13).

Why do you ask?

I am still hoping it's no big deal. I am still waiting on results from the Pap and DNA screen.

Maybe it's a polyp in the early stages? Or one that just fell off? I've only had a polyp once before (that I know of anyway) and it looked like a mushroom. The GYN wasn't going to remove it but it fell off when she touched it! My husband was with me and fascinated at it.
