We've noticed a huge reduction in DSs wheezing (he has environmental allergies) when we use a saline squirt (homemade saline solution) in his nose once a day. I know prescription nasal sprays are bad, but will we cause any long term damage to his nose by daily nasal irrigation? It's certainly better than treating him for asthma when his wheezing progresses.

I don't know if this is true for a child, but my mom does an irrigation thing with a saline solution every day. It really helps her allergies.

I'm using a xylitol spray for the same thing and it says it is safe to use as often as needed (unlike the prescription ones). It is a nasal wash.
