Question about vaginal garlic suppositories: I put a clove in almost 2.5 hours ago. How long do I leave it in? It's almost 9:30pm where I am. Should I take it out before bedtime and put in a new one or take it out before bedtime and give myself a rest from it? I put it in this evening because it's a lazy Sunday and I'm not doing much moving around.

ah yes. BV. It seems to be popping up or hanging in the background fairly often since I switched BC pills.

I don't know about the garlic. I've only put yogurt in there and it worked for yeast infection. I left that in all night.

I read to leave it in for 3-5 hours but information is sparse. I'm going to follow along with that and likely go another round at bedtime.

I've used them and they really do work amazingly well.

Fresh clove at bedtime, then a new one in the morning. I scratch the surface of the clove all around with a paring knife before inserting it.

Yogurt also works like a charm. I've also used acidophilus capsules (intended for ingesting) as vaginal suppositories.

I've used garlic and tea tree oil several times for BV. I would try to switch every 4-8 hours. The garlic will lose it's pungency after a while but the more you put your fingers down there, the higher chance of introducing more bad bacteria.

I've found that a combo of garlic and TTO works best for me, if I don't catch it early. A little TTO on a tampon works. Switch these at least every 2 hoursl. Also, a rinse of TTO diluted with water in a large syringe (needleless obviously.) Insert and push the plunger very slowly while standing in the shower.

I do garlic at night b/c it makes my mouth feel garlicky.

I have left the clove in for as long as 8(+) hours.

I have purchased TTO at Whole Foods, but I can't attest to its quality.

DS, 10/07. Allergies: peanut, egg, wheat. We've added dairy back in. And taken it back out again. It causes sandpaper skin with itchy patches and thrashing during sleep. Due w/ #2 late April, 2012.

TTO worked wonders for me. Also Hydrogen Peroxide administered through a syringe or peribottle works really well. HP works because infection can't survive in an oxygenated environment. The HP was a recommendation to me by a midwife.

If using yogurt, TTO, or HP, for how long do you practice the treatment?

The length of time you use one of the remedies, depends on the severity of the infection and how well you stay on top of it.

I do really well for the first couple days and then I tend to forget. I end up doing it for at least a full week.

When the TTO burns, it's probably time to stop. ;-)
