Anyone have any information regarding alternative/natural/homeopathic treatments for fistulas resulting from 4th degree tears? I'm 2+ years postpartum, so it may be too late for me, but I'm willing to try anything before ttc again.

I've only ever heard of surgery being the treatment for that. And am surprised that your caregiver didn't see to that, refer you, whatever, soon after the birth.

2+ years out, I suspect the skin edges would have healed (think how pierced ear holes heal around the hole), so they won't rejoin on their own.

Would be cool to learn otherwise though.

I was afraid of that. I've tried researching on the internet, but haven't found anything. My dr. didn't notice it at first, and then I was without insurance so didn't have it checked, then when I did, I was told it was probably nothing and my dr. could not see any fistula, so that it was probably not that. I however, feel sure that I am right. Mostly, I think I was denying that there was anything wrong, hoping it would just go away...
Thanks anyway, I'll keep looking. I was hoping something like Vitamin E ( I know, too easy) , or I've heard of silver nitrate as an alternative to surgery. I was kinda hoping someone would respond, "oh yeah, just try this, it works everytime!!"

I wish you'd found something like that too.

I wasn't too aware of these until I saw an episode of POV, or was it "Independent Lens", on PBS in which the doctor going to Afghanistan from America spent a good bit of his time teaching how to repair those.

What does your current care-giver have to say about it?
