Hey all,

My dd (19mo) has a painful pimple right on her poor little butt cheek. Can you folks make any recommendations for helping it go away a little faster?

Thanks!

Bump!

Okay, now it looks even worse and she's definately avoiding putting any weight on her bum. She's got what looks like a normal (but large-ish) pimple but now the surrounding skin is also red (but not swollen, exept for the pimple itself). I feel so bad for her...I hope someone has a suggestion!

Is it part of a bigger rash, or just a pimple by itself?

Well, if it is just a pimple, I would start by having her soak in a warm tub. Afterwards I would probably apply a clay or castor oil pack to draw out whatever may be in there.

Ruthla - It's just a pimple by itself, right on the "sitting down" part of her butt cheek. At this point it's really bothering her and she won't sit down at all...poor baby fell right on it earlier and just WAILED.

Plaid Leopard - How would I go about applying a clay or castor oil pack...? I'm a bit of a novice at natural healing...we've been so healthy so far I haven't had to do much learning. Lucky us!

Ooh, I just remembered that I have a tin of "Smile's PRID Homeapathic Drawing Salve" that I bought last summer when DS had a bazillion splinters after a visit to a cousins house. Does that sound like it would help?

Here's the ingedient list:

Acidum Carbolicum 2x HPUS, Ichthammol 2x HPUS, Arnica Mont 3X HPUS, Calendula Off 3X HPUS, Echinacea Ang 3x Hpus, Sulphur 12x HPUS, Hepar Sulph 12x hpus, Silicea 12x HPUS, Rosin, Beeswax, Petrolatum, Stearyl Alcohol, Methyl/Propylparaben

Thanks. How often would you recommend using the TTO? I know it's pretty strong...

My DD's have both had this at one point. My 2nd DD has had it quite a few times. It has always gotten to the point of becoming a Boil and they had to have antibiotics. I don't know if that is the case for your child, but it sounds just like when my DD's had that. Don't pop it.

Just wanted to post an update and let you all know that the warm soaks and tea tree oil did the trick! I really thought we were going to have to go to the doc and get abx, it was really awful, I could feel this HUGE, HUGE hard lump under her skin, but after the first tub it started draining on it's own and the TTO dried it up in just a few days! GO MDC!!!

Thanks for all your advice ladies!!
