So I'm getting ready for cold season and really have no idea what to do when DS gets sick. This is his first season not nursing (he's 3).

What kinds of things should I have on hand for when my little one gets sick?

-humidifier (preferably a cool mist one since the heat will be on in the house and it dires out the air and the nasal passages)
-nasal aspirator
-Ayr baby saline nose drops. Aspirate baby, put them in your lap upside down and putt a couple of drops in each nostril then play upside down game with them for 1-2 minutes. Then aspirate again. Or you can try a nettie pot or similar thing if the kid is old enough to do it. With a baby I found the Ayr WAY easier.
-peppermint oil. Put in on their pacifier or the rim of the bottle NOT ON THEM it can sting but somewhere near the nose and mouth so the will repeatedly inhale it. It clears everything out. I put it on my breast while nursing.
-Eucalyptus rub, like vapor rub but natural
-lavender oil for massaging especially the toes, reflexology points for sinuses
-washcloth on the forehead to bring a high fever down a little
-tissues with aloe or lotion in them
-rectal thermometer. It sucks but the armpit, and forehead ones just arn't accurate. They have pacifier thermometers if baby uses one. Or really accurate lips :-)
homeopathic chamomile, pulsatilla, aconite, belladonna and any other remedy that might work for your child.

and lots of love and patience :-)

I think I'm all tapped out. Good luck!
