I am 38 weeks pregnant and my baby is in a position that is pressing on my hip weird and I think pinching a nerve sometimes. A lot of people told me chiropractic might fix it. If medicaid won't cover it, what would I be looking at paying out of pocket?

Student and aspiring midwife mama to Angel: and Iris. Expecting a new sometime near Halloween! I am a all the way!!!!!

Most will have some sort of sliding scale. I think initial exam ran me 75 and each weekly appointment was 35. I hope you feel better!

It will pay for up to 20 visits/year here (OH). Not sure if it varies by state.

It does here in NJ. Specifically my HMO through medicaid covers it.

Definitely worth looking into. Good luck.

Your chiropractor might know too. My chiro told me that medicaid in Iowa pays for 10 visits or so (can't remember the exact number) for pregnant women. There is a $1 copay here. Good luck!

I'm a chiropractor in MA, and I don't think Medicaid does cover chiropractic. Unless in MA, it goes under the MassHealth title, in which case, there is some (read: Much) confusion even in the MassHealth office as to what is covered and not.

So I think the statement that it varies by state is accurate.

I have a cash only practice, I charge 75 for the initial visit, and 25 for subsequent adjustments. If extenuating circumstances exist, I do have a 15 hardship rate for regular visits.

HTH!

PS. check out www.ICPA4Kids.org to find a chiropractor that really knows about working with pregnant women!
