I have a sinus infection and it is very painful. A friend of mine recommended goldenseal. What can you tell me about it? I've never used it. Also... any other recs to get over this infection without abx?

I'm curious to see how it works for you. I've used goldenseal as a tincture for other things-colds and as a rinsing agent after I gave birth (for down there).
It is very bitter, so I'd take a quick tincture rather than sip a mug full. Good luck. I get sinus infections too, but didn't think about herbs.

oh, using a hot wet washcloth on your face can help the pain. Sometimes just heat over my sinuses helps a lot, let it sit on your face as long as you can. You can microwave wet wash clothes of get a teapot going. Use lotion afterwards because it does dry out your skin.

I can get rid of a sinus infection in a couple of hours with a couple of drops of Oil of Oregano.

If you are nursing a child under 2 yo, do not take goldenseal!! It is an antibacterial herb that is great for sinus infections. Just not for wee ones.

Any other suggestions for a sinus infection?
Mine is going on now for at least a week and I am miserable. I think this is the worst i have ever had and in the past I would have gone to the Dr. I know he will ju st give me antibx and I wont take them because I was prone to thrush last year.

I am taking lots of vit c, getting lots of fluids.

Any other advice?
