So I have been dealing with a vaginal yeast infection lately. I remember reading somewhere (and I have no idea where, I've been racking my brains trying to remember) that you can insert a garlic clove into your vagina before bed and the next morning the infection will be gone.

So I tried it. It seems to have worked, but now I am starting to wonder whether or not I just made this up in my crazy head!

Did I make it up or has anyone else heard of this?

I thought that was the natural treatment for GBS during pregnancy. I think you are supposed to wrap cheese cloth around the clove to keep it together maybe?

I know that when I was battling a thrush skin infection after a round of antibiotics and steroids (due to an allergic reaction) i took probiotics, garlic oil pills, and echinacea to help beat it back. So, no I believe garlic is used to fight yeast infections.

And hey, it worked.

I could make all sorts of other comments, but I am going to refrain to avoid a possible UAV.

Oh yeah I’ve stuck garlic up there too many times to count lol. It really works and I walk around smelling like really strong garlic. If that doesn’t work for me then I head over to Whole Foods and get a product by Boiron called Yeast Away if I remember correctly. It works wonders!

Yup, done it too. You really don't need to wrap it up with anything. The plain yogurt works too and it is VERY refreshing.

I used this to encourage a positive GBS test result. I cleaned a clove of garlic, cut off the top and bottom, and used clean thread to basically turn it into a garlic clove tampon. I may have been GBS - already, but my test was GBS -.

The weirdest part (for me, anyway) was tasting garlic strongly in my mouth within minutes of inserting the clove. That was the oddest thing.

It is best to also put one up your rectum at the same time. Same general area and the infection can travel. Good preventive also. Never hurts. LOL

Wow!

I've always used acidophilus for a week, but a single dose of garlic would sure be a lot quicker. I love hearing stuff like this! Thanks!

I usually use the garlic clove for 3 consecutive nights even if symptoms subside.

Coconut oil works nicely as well. In its cold chunky form. Wear a pad though as it will melt and leak a bit.
