I'm facing this due to Graves Disease, and would like to talk to people who had it done to see how well it worked for them.

I haven't, but my mom did. At the time, I hadn't had my own thyroid problems (hypo, so much more common and easier to deal with), but I found a lot of really interesting things to read (alternative-type stuff) at ithyroid.com. Written by a man who dealt with his own hyperthyroid without surgery.

I've had mine removed due to enlargement. I am struggling with hypothyroidism which I think the synthoid is inadequately addressing. The surgery was very easy and a quick recovery. I just wished I wasn't so darn symptomatic a year later.
