I will try to keep this as short as possible but I think I need some support of some other moms out there who may have gone through this.
My daughter is now almost 19 months old and at around 16 months I started to worry that she wasn't talking much. I had her tested by speech/developmental therapists who said she lagged in speech but was almost 10 months ahead to all other skills (problem solving, pretend play, etc) more like a 2 year old. They recommended speech therapy. I also had her hearing tested, it was perfect.
I happen to be talking to my homeopathic nutritionist about my DD and she was concerned thinking that other things may be inhibiting her speech development. After a full blood panel, my DD had over 18 food insenitivities (no wheat, oat, rice, dairy, onion, garlic, just a few) as well as all 5 sub-fractions of milk (I'm still nursing which I guess is a problem and she wants me to quit). I was told she had a "leaky gut". I also had a stool test done and my DD has a parasite that is not one of the the most 15 common types so I'm not sure exactly what kind she has.
Along with this, my DD has been seeing a chiropractor and a cranial sacral specialist to help get fluid moving more freely in her brain and to help her nervous system overall.
For the last 6 weeks, I have been following a strict diet (for both us) of what she can eat and have now started a heavy dose of probiotics to fight the parasite. I have also decreased my nursings from 4x a day down to once. I'm struggling with dropping the last one but want to help my daughter but she does not want to quit. I'm trying to gently wean.
I'm hoping someone has gone through this as I'm just having a rough time. My daughter has started babbling so much from these changes but we are still waiting to hear intelligible words from her. Has anyone dealt with things like this, leaky gut, parasites...? Thanks so much in advance!
