I'll say!! My water broke yesterday morning and I have yet to get these contractions close together. It's almost 3 pm the next day. I was really worried about the span of time between water breaking and birth, but I spoke with a friend's midwife last night who assured me it's alright. Today I need to get on some induction methods, tho. I'm so disappointed I can't use sex as one! Looks like I'm going to be using my breast pump and seeing how that goes. That's what the MW suggested. Nothing else seems to be doing the trick. I'm not sure what the deal is, but I'm calm and ready and it feels like nothing's happening!

Still here, still waiting!

MW suggested that if baby is not here by tomorrow morning, I should squat and bear down and see if I can break my own water. She said she thinks I can do it! Wierd, right?

I'm here at the hospital. I've been here for about 13 hrs. I came in with contrax that were not regular but def getting more intense.

They continued to get stronger and closer together with leaky bag and then all the sudden...NOTHING. For HOURS...
ugh!!!

So I've tried nipple stimulation, walking, etc and nothing !! So now sadly I am hooked up with pit. I am on a very low dose and things seem to be coming back around so hopefully I wont need it long or very much. I will have this baby by the end of this day!!!:

Yay, DizzyMissLizzy!

I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid, and because I'm GBS positive, went to the hospital to get checked. It was negative for amniotic fluid, which is better anyway, since I'm not having regular ctx, but going to the hospital and being sent home put me in a little bit of a bad mood. I'm starting to give up on my body's ability to go into labor, KWIM?

Ok, I feel completely retarded, especially since I've had a baby before with no pain meds, but I have no idea what a contraction is. I've had several somethings yesterday a few today that could've been contractions, but it could've also been the baby moving in a weird way? I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and starting to have some issues with my blood pressure. I am going to the temple on Tuesday, so I'd appreciate lots of prayers and labor vibes for Wednesday. The sooner the baby gets out, the better for both of us with this b/p issue.

Momma to DS1 4/5/06 nursed with IGT to self-weaning at 27 months, DS2 1/20/09 still nursing, DS3 due late November - planning to tandem with IGT and SNS

41 weeks and 2 days here...I feel like EVERY surge is the start of the real thing and it has been a long 3 weeks of practice surges (trying to stay in the hypnobirthing mindframe here). I'm sitting at work now, hoping things will start real soon! I can't wait to meet my babe and I'm so excited to be having a HB this time around (DD and DS at hospital, both induced).

DH and I DTD yesterday afternoon : and, boy, did it make my uterus cranky! I was having painful contractions every 3 to 5 minutes all evening long. I couldn't sit while contracting because I was having so much pelvic pressure. I thought just maybe that it was true labor since none of my BH contractions have been painful or regular before but no dice. Things slowed way down last night. I'm still having contractions that are uncomfortable but they aren't regular anymore. I'm going to be slammed at work today and my coworker called in sick so it's just me seeing all the patients. I really hope I'm not too miserable!

Ugh! I feel like total crap. The last few days have been like this but I've only had a few bouts of contractions. It's silly for me to think that I'd go early since I was two days late with both of my first two. Yet, I can't help think something is going on. I'm sure it's just wishful thinking! I can't ever remember feeling this desperate to go into real labor!

Ok, don't feel like starting my own thread so I thought I'd revive this one (even though I'm probably jinxing myself YET again).

39+4 today. Have had CTX throughout the day, mostly irregular but no big breaks (and not overwhelming either, just incredible pressure). Around dinner time I had a snack, then instantly regretted it. Felt really burpy and had pretty big aversion to eating actual dinner. Within a half an hour, had three bad bouts of diarrhea (not just loose stools--I've had those on and off for a couple weeks). Ctx are in the 15-20 min range although still not regular, but pretty darn strong. Ate some crackers but still no desire to eat a real meal which is unusual...normally I'd be starving by now. So, maybe something's started, or maybe I ate something bad today. We'll see!

I hope it's the real thing for you, Mrs.Oz!

The last two nights I really thought labor might be starting. The first night I had intense crampy and elly tightening contractions every 12-13 minutes for 3 hours+ (then a couple of hours into the night, when I woke up I would notice I was stilll having them, but glad I could get some sleep.) Well, by the time I woke up, they were gone.

Last night, I had intense crampy contractions, not at all like BH contractions, every 5 minutes for an hour, then they became irregular but still hopeful for another hour, and then very irregular. Wah! Last night I even had to explain to my 4 yr old what a contraction is, so he wouldn't jump on me or make annoying loud sounds while I was having one. Right at about the first hour, I told him he may even get to go to Grandma's tonight.

Oh well, I hope these contractions are doing something!

What's going on with me sounds simliar to what lot of others have said!! I was awake in the night having pressure waves about every 5 minutes or so...more intense and longer than BH...I really thought it might be it...tried to sleep and was woken up many times but then managed to sleep for a 3 hour block. They seemed to peter out.

Then I started losing my mucus plug this morning. So who knows! It would be pretty funny to birth on my EDD (today.)

Well, the ctx pretty much dwindled to not much right before I went to bed. Woke up about three hours later and had bad lower back pain...not in waves or associated with a ctx or anything, just bad achy pain, and had more bowel emptying (sorry if TMI) then some weak ctx on and off for several hours while I tried to get back to sleep. Nothing since I've been awake. Oh well...just what I expected

Don't think it's labor, BUT...I'm coming up on 39 weeks, and since last night I've been having more frequent and more intense BHs than normal. I've gotten a lot of BHs since really early, but today they're coming like every 15-20 minutes, making my belly look really funny. (I'm lopsided, and way more so when having ctrx.) Not even remotely painful, but strong. Also I MAY be leaking a small amount of something, but it could just be (TMI alert) pee or a sweaty crotch. (I sweat a lot.)

Hoping it's NOT it, actually -- or if it is, that it makes itself obvious SOON. DH is planning on being away for the weekend, leaving tonight -- taking our big, badly behaved doggie to stay with grandpa through the birth and first several weeks after -- and I do NOT want to be in labor while he's gone. NEXT Friday would be perfect, baby! Or even the Friday after! Or, what the heck, the Friday after THAT! It's cold out here...stay nice and cozy just a litttttle bit longer.

Lots of contractions for the past 2 hours. About 3-5 minutes apart...but not very painful. I'm looking for pain. My normal "contraction stopping" activities are not stopping them (walking, cleaning, eating etc.).

I don't have my hopes up. I wish I just "knew".

Good luck!

I've been having contractions on and off since 5:30 AM this morning. DS is staying at the grandparent's place tonight. I hope the baby comes soon.

I've been losing my mucus plug all day! No real contractions, just some crampiness on and off, but I feel like it's close now. Awesome!

This was it, all right! I had little bits of bloody show all day 1/24 and 1/25, with some cramping and a few mild contractions, but no real labor pattern. Felt a little leakage around 4:30 PM 1/25, called my midwife, who suggested chicken soup, a shot of vodka, and immediate bedtime. (I hadn't slept much at all the night of the 24th.) I complied, fell asleep -- and woke up around midnight with what felt like my first "real" contraction. Five minutes later I was in transition, screaming at my husband to CALL THE MIDWIFE. By the time she arrived, at around 1:00 AM, I was 8-9 centimeters, and I pushed my baby girl out at 3:27 AM. It was completely insane. Good thing I planned a homebirth, because there's no way I would have made it to the hospital. (Contractions came right on top of each other from start to finish -- I wasn't going ANYWHERE.)

Baby Ruby is asleep on my chest and all is well.
