OK, babies, come out, come out, we know where you are!

I'm 41W1d today and getting cranky, but feeling OK. I see my MW tomorrow and have a HB planned. She will want me to get an US to see make sure everything's peachy. Maybe that will make me feel better and give me something to "do". But all in all, baby's moving a lot still and I don't get any bad vibes besides what other people tell me! LOL

I'm glad I have mothering for support and to hear the TRUTH.

Good luck mommy's! January's a great month to have babies! :

He, he...thanks gang.

I'm OK I suppose, not too terribly uncomfortable, but not in great physical shape either. I guess its the "wow, should I start to worry?" worrying that is creeping up on me...does that make sense?

I've been having menstrual like cramps and some BH but nothing that makes me wanna time anything. I'm thinking it will just start and then I'll feel like"umm...wow...I'm in labor! After all that nonsense worrying! Yippy, I think!" (OK, thats how its going to go in my head! LOL

So...here I am. You get a two for one hopefully not for more than 14 more days! Thanks for greeting me!

Welcome! I was also due 12/24 and I'm still waiting...waiting...waiting. I have an induction scheduled for 1/7 so I know I have a countdown, but I just wanted to go into spontaneous labor for once!

I have a wiggler too. My next app't is on Monday so hopefully the weekend will go by quickly.

I'm here.. I'm still hopping back and forth to both groups. I am 40w5d now and waiting.. I've been to 42, almost 43 weeks before so it's nothing new to me but I have to admit since my last child came at 39w6d I just knew this time I would be "on time". Guess he has other plans. lol

So I'm curious, for us that are doing home births how long is too long? Are you willing to wait until 43 or 44 weeks? When is enough enough for you? The only thing that gets me is that I'm seeing a CNM in a practice and planning a UC. I know here in the next week something will be brought up about induction. I just wonder how I'm gonna fight it.

Candice- you do what you feel is right, that's what.

I'm now at 42w1d. I was going to have an ultrasound biophysical profile today, but I'm having second thoughts. Partly because I was lazy and forgot to schedule it, but partly because i didn't think the results were accurate last time I did it (and it would be same person, who is HIGHLY recommended - I chalk it up to her having a bad day). MW is going to do a NST today, though.

I'm soooooooo frustrated, though - not because I'm anxious to be "done" or anything. Just that my parents are pressuring me. They want to go back home on Monday. Even if the baby is born on the weekend, they'd actually LEAVE that fast??? I don't know. MW just told me another mom is in labor today, so my baby needs to wait for her.

Each day that nothing happens gets me closer to freaking out, though. I'm not there, yet, but my emotions went crazy with DD2 on 42w3d ... she was born 42w5d. I don't want to freak out, but maybe I should? Maybe that would convince baby to come out??

I'm here! I've been in both DDCs all along. I could've written the first post, except I'm 40 wks, 4 days. I saw my midwife today and she got me going on the evening primrose oil. Monday I'll be 41 weeks and if baby isn't here yet she'll send me for the tests and whatnot on Tuesday or Wednesday and I can start the cohoshes then too. sigh. I took a long walk today since it warmed up (to 33 degrees so hopefully it'll all help. I just want people to stop calling! MW checked today and I was only about 30% effaced and not at all dilated...oh well. there's still time Come out baby!

I've been floating back and forth, too. Just reading the Jan posts, though.

I went shopping w/DH & DDs1-3 but I think the girls' unruly behavior stressed me out beyond putting me into labor...They haven't been out in awhile. Cabin fever took over I guess. I'm gonna start running up and down my stairs, I swear!

Janis - they say a good fight can bring on labor (a friend of mine caught her hubby cheating and went into labor 20 min after she calmed down! That little girl came into this world so fast, too! So maybe keeping it to a "medium" freak out would be best, lol!!)

I had talked about this in the other thread but its worth saying cuz I'm bummed. I also have been having more cramping/contraction type stuff after DTD today (after telling DH its his fault for NEVER initiating DTD... Does that count as the fight starting the contractions or the DTD? He, he...)

So..here's what happened:
The MW came over today and said no one has ever gone past 42 weeks with her-which is Wednesday. She said I should make the ultrasound appt and that usually scares em out.

If I go until Wednesday, she wants me to go the Castor oil route (putting 1/4c. in something and drinking it-she said she’s never seen it NOT work. On these threads some people have said it didn’t work for them, so who knows.) Apparently there is and “issue” if I don’t have the babe by 42 weeks-which I was not aware of…? Wouldn't the BPP show if I need to do a hosp birth? Or could that be some kind of law/rule down here in Florida? I just DO NOT want to end up in the hospital...please baby, come out!

I guess I feel really bummed now. Just sad if it goes that long so more added pressure to have the baby. I think I’ll die if I have to go to the hospital. That gets me sick. So now I’m mopping around.

*sigh

a lot of states do put a time-limit on home birth midwives at 42 weeks. It's completely arbitrary, but it affects her license to practice, so she can't really do it.

Fortunately, Texas doesn't have such rules.

Personally, I would NOT do castor oil. If it works, you get the runs *and* labor. If it doesn't work, you get the runs. I'd do *anything* to avoid getting the runs intentionally! But a lot of moms swear by it. is she opposed to cohosh? EPO? Other than that, there's not a whole lot you can do without going to the hospital, which isn't guaranteed, either.

I'm sooooo sorry.

On a more positive note, though - just the fear of going to the hospital may make it all work out!!!

Yeah, I've been having so many cramps/contractions lately I'm hoping it's not far off. My MW was pretty upbeat and seemed completely unworried that I'd have it by Wednesday. So that made ME feel OK with it too. My DS has been wanting to nurse again although he was pretty much CL weaned, I let him at it but no major contractions. Can't hurt!

BTW-JRAbbit, made the soup today, it was great! Thanks! And my DS did have some today! (Along w/ the pizza DH gave him

Hey, I guess I can join in the jumping since I was due 12/24.

Actually, in Texas, a midwife is technically not supposed to attend past 43 weeks. If she does, her credentials could be in jeopardy. A lot of MW's in Texas know ways around it but it is definitely something that is on their radar.

So what does that mean exactly? I HAVE to deliver in a hospital?!?! Last time I checked this was suppose to be a free country! :

That just stinks. I'm pushing now! I don't care if I'm in labor or not! He, he...

You don't HAVE to go to a hospital. As far as I know there isn't a law saying you need an attendant. She could decide not to attend you, that happened to me my last pregnancy at 39 wks because I refused a sizing ultrasound.

Maybe if you talk to your midwife about how strongly you feel about home birth you could come to some kind of middle ground, say if you were already deep into labor she would still come.

I think she's (my MW) is not worried, but I kinda am. (Now that I officially have something to worry about )

I cried this morning. I'm just frustrated and sad that **things aren't going my way**...I guess I have to work on acceptance of the situation to feel better. I just feel betrayed by my body and mad at everyone. It's all really silly, I mean, I DO have until Wednesday and anything could happen. I'll try and stay positive, go for a walk today. Even though I keep hearing "nothing helps move it along". Walking is still good FOR me and releases happy endorphins! :

I sure could use some today, I just ripped into DH again for pretty much being useless unless directed and nagged for months. He's now outside, hiding from me taking down the x-mas lights. Eiii-yiii-yii, I need to go apologize, even though I know he'll roll his eyes and just walk away (not that he has EVER apologized to anyone in his life.)

Yes that is a very good thing!

I completely feel your pain. I am right there with you. We are getting ready to go out. Whenever DH is home, the house gets re-cleaned and then we go somewhere because sitting at home just reminds me that I don't have a cute little baby to snuggle with. There are no baby smells and all that other stuff that is so awesome about having a newborn.

Squirrelletta, I've lost my mucous plug three times, starting about three weeks ago. It means your cervix is changing...so that's good, right? But I'm still pregnant.

OK I won't tell you then...hee hee.

I've been doing lots of exercise ball stuff and squatting exercises to help LO drop. When I do them, I can feel his head come down more.

I'm thinking DTD may help (not that it has yet) but MW just told me we have to DTD 3x in 24 hrs to really make it work - I just looked at her and laughed! The last time we DTD all I did was laugh - DH didn't think it was as funny. My belly has never been so big - I told him I was afraid of friction burn of my belly button, and I just burst out laughing. I told him maybe that would help use my uterine muscles at least - but nope. It was the first good laugh I've had in awhile, though. DH hasn't been too willing to help since then, though. LOL

These babies have their own agendas though - they've definitely made that clear! Don't fret too much, there's still a few days to go.

I am having LOTS of contractions now...weird. Nothing painful and making me wanna scream "ITS TIME!"...but I'm excited and holding it back.

Wish me luck! :

I'm off to have DS paint my belly, he heard I lost my plug and when DH said "Should I fill the tub?" being a smarty -DS heard him and yelled "I haven't got to paint the belly yet!" and almost started crying. Poor little guy, hes so excited.

I had to laugh at that because I can relate. DTD has become a new adventure in awkwardness.

Janis, I can't remember where I posted it, but I posted something along those lines this morning MW told us to DTD 3x in 24 hrs and it'll work. I laughed at her! Because the last time we DTD - that's all I did!! 'm so big!! I told DH I thought I'd get friction burn of the belly button. He hasn't been too keen on the idea since then, lol.

I got a good laugh for the first time in ages, though. And if I try to lay on my back, I look down and laugh even harder cuz that's all I see - the top 1/2 of my belly, I've never had such a big belly, so I just can't help laughing. DH doesn't think it's quite so funny at the time... We weren't able to DTD for a few mos because of my over-reactive (now NON-reactive!! uterus, so I think I jipped him a little bit. O well...like to see him carry this giant "ball" around!

Maybe a little TMI - but it was a good laugh anyway. At least I got *something* out of it!

Yay for you! I'm really hoping SOMEONE gets somewhere today!

I lost more of my plug today (didn't think there was anything left at this point), too. After my shower - where I did a lot more squatting exercises in the hot water. My back was really bugging me, so I stayed in the positions a little longer hoping to stretch everything out - not so much thinking about labor or anything else for once! Then, I decided to shave for the first time in ages (because it's just such an *easy* thing to do these days!)

I got out of the shower, got dressed and felt it- I thought at first my water broke (ok wishful thinking ). So I had to change AGAIN. Really crampy now, a few more contractions but nothing major - - doubt they will be. But at least I got to see something is really moving for once!! All these days of "no signs of change still" were really wearing on me!

Good luck - - maybe I can send you my contraction energy! It doesn't work for me. I did that for Mamavegan a few nights ago and she's still not back yet - so I'm hoping it worked for her!!

Egh...nothing real so far, still minor cramping/contractions. Took a LONG nap and tried to have some *Big O's*. DS just nursed for a few minutes too to fall asleep. Think I'll take a bath and clean all the paint off my belly! DS did good art work on there and even had me paint a fish on his belly! Someday I'll figure out how to post pix!

OK, we're ALL going into labor tonight...just so you know.:
