Anyone start this battle yet? How is it going? Just got the paperwork from my midwife to start the fight.

FWIW I have Aetna. Anyone know how they deal?

My midwife's billing person sent the claim, but I haven't heard anything. BCBS here, not expecting to get anything, just hoping.

So I got an email from the insurance. All it really told me was "Requesting more information". The saga continues!

Looks like I am getting about 1/3 of the $ back. It is more than I thought I would get with much less of a fight as well. All and all I am pretty happy!

Amazingly our midwife filed the papers and our insurance covered everything! It was an amazing surprise. Apparently it was the first time my midwife didn't have to fight at all. Maybe things are getting better... wishful thinking. She just filed and they paid. woohoo! I have Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield POS.

Good luck with your fight! I hope everything works out.

Mine covers it, but FL law requires it to... I've heard Aetna can be a pain, but keep pushing, if you don't get the answer you want, try a higher up person!

mom to Reaghan born underwater into midwife's hands 1/17/07 & Myra born surrounded by doulas and midwife at home 1/12/09. Birth Educator, and Photographer, Baby #3 Coming May 2013!

NY State has some kind of requirement that insurance cover homebirths - my MW claimed, got 70%, then claimed again and got the full remainder. They paid for everything! I never paid her a dime directly and never even had to call my insurance company (Oxford).
Good luck to everyone in trying to get reimbursed!

I am so happy for those of you who have not had to jump through the hoops! I am not sure if I want to fight any more. I was not expecting to get anything so I think 1/3 is pretty good.
