Hi! Harmony that's good you're on the maca (I believe). It really helped me to start having regular cycles after I stopped nursing last August. I have been taking it for a month or so, and took Vitex before that. (I ran out of Vitex so went back to maca). I am going to keep taking it until I can talk to an herbalist or naturopath and decide if it is okay to continue through the first trimester. I have read that it is completely safe....of course the side of the bag says "do not use if pregnant or nursing" but I have heard that the Peruvians have used it for years and it was a staple of their diet. Lots of minerals and essential nutrients in addition to the hormone adaptogen properties. Have you heard anything about using it in pregnancy? You're still nursing right? Or am I thinking of someone else. I am keeping everything crossed that you get a temp rise to coincide with hubby's visit!!!! That would be perfect timing...

Take care 😊

Thanks for the new thread, NSMom.

wengrin, I am still nursing. I haven't heard anything detrimental to taking it throughout pregnancy. And it is a food and not an herb, so that makes it "safer" I guess, hah. I'll be interested to hear what your herbalist or naturopath says about it. I don't seem to notice any benefits from it yet, though. I found a thread on here where they said it takes a couple of months to affect cycles, but that they had extra energy within the first few days. Well, it's been over a week, and I have none of that. orngtongue.gif

AFM, I am crazy. A friend posted an online "party" (like a direct sales party) on Facebook and invited me to it. I poked around there briefly, then asked DH if I could spend some of our tax refund on it. He said sure, so I started adding things to my basket, and adding, and adding... and my basket got REALLY fat. So I had to text him again to make sure it was okay to spend THAT much on it, lol. Then while I was waiting to hear back from him, I poked around some more and decided that I wanted to sign up to sell the stuff, even before my order had gone through, LOL. So I sent another text asking if I could do that. He finally answered me back and said, "Get it all, my love." So I did, quickly (both the order page and the sign-up page were ready for my CC info). I did both of them so fast that my confirmation emails from the company came within the same minute as each other, lol. "Thank you for your order!" "Welcome to the family!" lol. I can hardly wait to have the items in hand and start my own party.

That's cute, Harmony. Your hubby sounds very sweet! I hope this turns out to be a great thing for you!!

I will let you know what I find about the maca. Yes I agree since technically it's not even an herb, it's a food source...I am wishfully thinking that it should be fine. 😉

Miscarriage talk ahead:

Surely I'm not still pregnant after passing tissue and bleeding. I spotted on Sunday and Monday, and bled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday I thought it had stopped but it started again in the afternoon, lightly. There's nothing so far today. Pregnancy test is still positive. At least that explains why my breasts are still sore and why I'm irritable during nursing my 2 1/2 year old.

Michelle, I don't know how it is for an early loss, but after my last full-term birth, I tested out the hCG and it took about three weeks for my tests to be negative. Depending on how high your levels were, it could take another few days. Do you have a bunch of tests? Maybe test every third day or so to see if the levels are going down.

I guess it's another one of those "everyone is different" things, because some people seem to get pregnant just a couple of weeks after a loss, and I would think you would have to be rid of hcg before you could ovulate.

Barely spotting today, at least so far.

lmevans, I know I tested positive 3 days after my 6 week miscarriage, but negative at 2 weeks past (I didn't test in between). I ovulated about 3 weeks after the miscarriage.

Awww noooo....hope it's not what you are fearing, mamacatsbaby. I know you know your body, but holding hope that maybe this is just early pregnancy spotting that is normal? Are you having cramping? I spotted with my first baby (actually full on bleeding where I was certain I had lost the baby) and she is completely fine. Gosh I am sorry though. I know that feeling....I have had 2 losses and a chemical pregnancy fail since May of last year so every single thing is worrying me now.
hug.gif

lmevans- I ovulated late after my m/c in Dec. I think it was about 3 1/2 weeks after my D&C. So maybe your body is slowly releasing the hcg hormone?

Hope everyone is doing well. I am thinking positive thoughts for you mamacatsbaby.

Hugs, mamacats.  I hope it's nothing.  :(

Good luck tomorrow, NSmomtobe.  I hope you get some good news, finally.

AFM, just waiting on AF.  Hopefully it'll hit on time this Thursday.  We're excited to finally TTC after waiting what feels like forever.  We're staying pretty busy with life and work obligations, so I guess that's good.  I'm trying to limit caffeine over the next two weeks and keep up working out so I can feel like I'm in the "ideal" place as far as fertility goes.  I'm not sure I'm really ready for the TTC rollercoaster, but I also hate waiting.  Lots of conflicting emotions over here.

I don't know if I belong here or not. I got my first bfp a week ago and since then my lines have been pretty faint although they have darkened. At 14 DPO my beta was 24. Yesterday, 18 DPO, my beta was only a 54. The doctors have pretty much told me to expect a loss. I have had very light spotting but have not bled yet. I go in tomorrow to test again. I'm hoping that it will pass as painlessly as possible . This was our first pregnancy and we are devastated to say the least.

Does anyone have any tips on how to continue after this? I am afraid that we will continue to have chemical pregnancies if we keep trying but maybe the embryo just wasn't healthy?

All I know is that I no longer view pregnancy as joyful and exciting. In fact I find it to be extremely scary.

Alivewithyou, I hope things turn out much better than you expect.  The vast majority of miscarriages are caused by chromosomal problems in the embryo that are caused just by the complexity of sexual recombination.  You have a more than excellent chance of going on to have a happy healthy baby.  Since your loss was so early, you don't even have to wait to try again.  I would just jump back on the horse (so to speak) while understanding that it's going to be scary until you see the heartbeat.  I think suffering a loss your first pregnancy is in some ways the worst, because you don't know you can actually do it. For me, at least, I had comfort knowing my body had done it before.

You also haven't been trying that long by most standards.  It takes an average of 6 months for most couples to conceive, so again, all signs point to you being able to have a healthy happy baby soon.  I know how hard it is to lose that hope though.  A loss changes the way you approach what should be such a joyful time.  I hope you and your husband find comfort soon.  And there's still a chance things are perfectly normal.  I hope they are.

granolamommie, Congratulations! What a beautiful line?

mamacatsbaby, I am thinking of you and really hoping the spotting has stopped and everything is well.

Alivewithyou, I am so sorry that you might be going through a chemical pregnancy. That happened to me the cycle before we conceived in January, and it was pretty gut wrenching. But if your levels are rising, albeit slowly, there might still be hope. I think it's possible, so I am just going to hold out hope for you for the moment.

My cervix was low and firm today, yay! My temp was up VERY VERY slightly, but it was taken at 3:30 a.m., and I can't remember how I need to adjust it for an earlier wake time. But the low cervix is encouraging. Until my chart proves me otherwise, I'm going to say that I had a +OPK on Sunday (when I didn't have any strips) and the LH was on its way out on Monday and Tuesday, and O day was Tuesday.

The genetic testing on the embryo was not done, to my doctor's frustration, and the genetic results for my husband and I are not back yet. The rest of my blood work came back normal, but the specialist recommended that I start taking baby aspirin every day for its placebo effect. I said, "Did you really just say 'placebo'?" and she explained that she meant she didn't know if it would help, but it probably couldn't hurt. I am reading everything I can about this now, including safety for breastfeeding, safety for pregnancy, and safety for me, and I keep going back and forth on whether or not I think it is  a good idea. The other thing she gave me was a prescription for progesterone suppositories to start using after I get my BFP until 11 weeks.

Welcome, Alivewithyou. I hope things turn around soon for you. I will put you in "waiting with special circumstances" until you know for sure. There is still hope! FWIW, my first pregnancy ended in an early loss, and it made me hesitant to invest in my second pregnancy, but that pregnancy resulted in a healthy baby.

Hcg level came back at 40. All I can think of is I am about to lose my baby.. All. Day. Long. It's so surreal. Doctors are saying to wait 1-2 cycles. Is that really physically necessary? What supplements can I take? Can I get progesterone on my own?
