I'm still a little too emotional to write everything out, but my birth photographer posted her blog pictures of my birth at this link:

http://sarahtew.wordpress.com/2009/03/27/birthing-sion/

the details are slightly off-- the last 15 hours I was swollen at 7cms with my body bearing him down uncontrollably. The "checking dilation" picture is the 4th attempt at trying to push his head past my cervix. It was really, really traumatic.

But he's beautiful.

Congrats on your son! I also had a tranfer with my first birth and it was very traumatic for me. It took me a while to process it all and make my peace with it. Do not be afraid to feel bad about it and work through it. Even though your transfer was totally needed it can still take a while to accept that. Good luck with your beautiful family.

Congratulations on your baby. Your pictures remind me of my labor a lot. I to was in labor for 60+ hours and needed a transfer. It is only because I had been pushing fully dilated for so long that I got a vag birth (VBAC actually). i thought i had the "longest labor award" on lock down, but I say it should go to you.

Oh, and i love his name. My son's middle name is Sorin, so close . How big was he?

wow, you were in labor a long time too! I'm totally afraid for the next pregnancy, I want a HBAC, because the c-section was awful, but the 60 hour labor was pretty awful too. ugh. Can't wait to get my IUD in place and not think about it for awhile!

He was 9 lbs 4 oz. I'm petite, so I need to grow a smaller baby next time! And I am NOT one to think little women can't birth big babies, but wow... in this case it just wasn't in the cards. He is enormous! He's a week old and already 10 lbs.

Oh, Becky, I am so sorry you didn't get the birth you wanted. I know you are going through a lot with your father, too, so just allow yourself the right to grieve all these things however you need to - you can also fall in love with your new son, I know it will work out for you...you are so strong. I had a very similar story in my ds' birth, but ended up with a vag, still...yet the trauma of the situation seriously played over and over again in my dreams for months, I had trouble sleeping for SOOOO long...I didn't talk about it because I didn't feel anyone understood or would care...and at the time hadn't discovered MDC yet. Please get yourself to a place where you can start to make peace with your son's birth.

Goddamn, your family is freekin gorgeous! All three of you are so beautiful...

You are amazing for laboring that far and staying so strong... I know from experience (also not sleeping for three nights) how HARD it is, and you must realize what an amazing job you did. I wish you peace with it and hope nursing is getting off to a good start.
