My husband is desperate to feel part of this pregnancy (he is a very sensitive man).

When will he/we be able to feel the baby from the outside of my tummy?

I am already starting to show (a lot) and I am only 18w3d!!! Everyone says it looks like I am carrying the baby high (I have barely gained any weight yet so what I am getting is all belly!!)

This is our first pregnancy, and we don't really know what to expect...

If I remember correctly it can start in the 5th month, so in a few weeks for you. I've had 2 kids but it's one of those things that's hard to remember exactly. My dh also isn't super interested in this phase (read: the entire pregnancy) so that may be why...

In love with Dh since 1998. We created Ds (7.1.03), Dd (10.16.06) and Dd (3.16.09).

No, no one can feel the baby move from the outside yet. It will start to happen in the next few weeks. Your dh will need to be patient.

Feeling the baby move from the outside is such an exciting time! I understand your husband's impatience about it. My husband and kids love to feel the baby move.

You'd think after 4 prior pregnancies I'd know this, but I can't really remember! I'm thinking it's at least a month after you start to feel the baby internally. Of course it varies from woman to woman.

It'll happen before you know it and you're husband will be able to enjoy this pregnancy with you even more! :

Nope, DH can't feel the baby yet and I'm 19 weeks. I'm just starting to feel the baby move more regularly myself. And, as so many have said, after have 2 kids you'd think we'd remember! But I just don't remember when that time comes. 5th -6th month most likely. You are close.

I can remember feeling ds from the outside between 21 and 22 weeks. Dh was in Iraq and missed it, so he's super anxious about feeling this one!

This is one of the things that mama's size influences. If you're very thin movements will be able to be felt from the outside easier than on a mama who is *fluffy*. I'm very very *fluffy* and, if I remember correctly, DH couldn't feel DD2 from the outside until I was almost 8 months.

I remember dh being able to feel my dd at right around 20 weeks. I don't remember with my ds...he wasn't as interested, but it was sometime after 20 weeks.

I'm 18 weeks now, and while I am still not feeling the baby move consistently throughout the day, my dh was able to feel the baby moving around during a particularly busy time a week or two ago. It was faint, but this is my third pregnancy, and my dh has had lots of health care experience dealing with preggo women and babies. Maybe that helped?

I am very thin and always have been, and I just went looking for this info from my first prg, because I wrote everything down in a prg journal...ha! I recorded that I felt little movements at 14 weeks, but wasn't sure about them being baby until 17 weeks. Dh felt them clearly starting at 19 weeks.

Translate that till now and I cannot imagine the same being true...so who knows. I am just starting to feel some distinct movements now at 16 weeks, although I've had little maybes for weeks now...and I cannot imagine dh feeling these in a week or two, but who knows? I guess every one and every prg is different in this respect.

I noticed this morning that I could feel them from the outside. I've been feeling her move for a couple of weeks. I was lying on my back in bed. I don't think I'd feel them in another position. But this baby is a real kicker too. Very strong movements already. I'm in trouble in a few months. I'm 18w4d.

I still hardly ever feel her move from the inside, and I am almost 5 months. It's once a day, if I'm lucky. Yet on the ultrasound screen, she was very active & even sucking her thumb. I don't get it.

I'm 19.5 weeks and just started being able to feel the baby from the outside less than a week ago. Yesterday I actually saw the baby's kicks from the outside. The baby is going through a period of really rapid growth right now, and the changes happen so quickly...it seems like one day all I could feel were little flutters and the next day I'm getting big strong kicks.

I'm 20 weeks, and I can feel kicks from the outside. My husband felt one, I think last week. I hope the rest of you feel it soon! It's by far my favorite part of pregnancy!

With my son, it was at 20 weeks.

It was much earier the next time around, though my DH still didn't feel it until 20 weeks since it was irratic and he never seemed to try at the right times. DS, however, felt it at a mere 16 weeks from the outside that time.

I just hit 20 weeks today and I have been able to feel it from the outside on occassion for a few weeks - but it's way too sporatic for DH to feel, though DD has been able to feel it.

*This baby is 10 days ahead in size on the ultrasound. My other two kids were at least 2 weeks ahead in size on the ultrasound at this point. So, me growing larger babies may have something to do with it. (In my case, I do believe the ultrasound is accurate since I grow huge babies normally).

I didn't feel my first for a long time. I would say 22-24 weeks IIRC.

This little guy I felt much earlier, but it was a game of luck to see if I could have my hand in the right spot at the right time. He doesn't often settle into one area and kick there repeatedly - it is more like bumpity bump - move my hand there - bump somewhere else. lol.

I haven't had my husband try yet because neither of us has much patience. At 6 and 7 months, it will be easy and frequent to feel it for both of you.

I honestly don't remember when that happened. I'm 18.5 weeks now and just felt our baby from the inside for the first time though so I think it happens (at least for me) closer to 23+ weeks.

I don't know when I have felt my last 4 either I noticed that the February DDC is saying they are so it won't be long! I can't wait for my kids to feel her. It really connects them with her and gets them excited!

I felt the baby from the outside a couple of days ago. I'm a bit fluffy, and I'll be 21 weeks on Monday.

I just felt Baby from the outside yesterday for the first time. And I'm 20w3d. I can't (believe I can't) recall when I felt ds1 move the first time.

I can feel the baby make big movements from the outside. Like all of the sudden my stomach will churn and I'll have a big bump on one side, and the other side is soft.

Sometimes if i'm laying on my back and he presses the palm of him hand firmly around my uterus, my partner can feel the baby move more subtle movements.

DH felt movement today! it was a huge day for us - the U/S, he got to hear the hb w/ the fetoscope, and then tonight he felt the baby!

And I just got whacked to the point where it sort of freaked me out! LOL. Weird alien baby in there - leave me be!

I think it depends more on the baby than anything else. Ds2 was (& is) extremely active. H could feel him moving by 15 weeks (& I'm very 'fluffy', for the record). This baby, I barely feel. Maybe 1 or 2 movements a day, at most & even that's usually pretty faint. I think it'll be several weeks more before there's any movement to be felt from outside.
