A few years ago, my husband was diagnosed with viral meningitis. Now I've been reading about the diagnostic similarities between VM and polio, and it seems as though after the vaccine was introduced all of the cases of polio were re-named as viral meningitis.

Does anyone have any info on this?

If what my husband had was actually polio, would there be any way to test for it now to confirm it? It happened 4 years ago.

Thanks.

No way to test this long after the fact. Lots of viruses can cause meningitis though. Sometimes they'll PCR the CSF specimen when it's collected.

ETA - if you haven't already you might check through the archives for info: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...play.php?f=113

I highly reccomend you read "Fear of the Invisible" By Janine Roberts

Im reading it now and it is VERY eye opening. She covers the Polio epidemics and the vaccine extensively here is an excerpt from her book

If the people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny." Thomas Jefferson.

The Enterovirus Surveillance Program started in 1961. One of the first orders of business was identifying and reclassifying enteroviruses, including poliovirus. I don't have any lonks on hand, but this is covered in the book "Polio: An American Story".
