I just looked up the ingredients for both vaccines on the CDC’s website: http://lb.redirectingat.com/?id=848X...nt-table-2.pdf
As of April 2009, these are the listed ingredients for each:
Aluminum Hydroxyphosphate Sulfate, Amino Acids, Dextrose, Formaldehyde or Formalin, Mineral Salts, Potassium Aluminum Sulfate, Soy Peptone, Yeast Protein
Aluminum Hydroxide, Phosphate Buffers, Thimerosal*, Yeast Protein
*Where “thimerosal” is marked with an asterisk (*) it indicates that the product should be considered equivalent to thimerosal-free products. This vaccine may contain trace amounts (<0.3 mcg) of mercury left after post-production thimerosal removal, but these amounts have no biological effect.
Why does this differ from what Dr. Sears says? Dr. Sears makes no mention of Thimerosal in the Engerix-B vax; in fact, he specifically says in his book and on his website that the Engerix-B vax hasn’t contained mercury since 2006.
I’m so confused! I just want to know which vax is better.
