So today I took my baby for her 2 month check-up. Our pediatrician is very cool with non-vaxing. At the end of the checkup, he just asked "So no shots today, right?" And I said "Right." He said "Oh good, that makes my job so easy. I am so sick of giving shots. I think that's all I do sometimes is give shots."

Then he mentioned how it us even worse now, with all the flu shots, etc.

Then I told him how I am always posting vaccine articles on Facebook and one of my friends just posted how he had a very bad reaction to his flu shot. The doctor asked if he could "friend" me on Facebook so he could read my vaccine articles!!!

Love it.

Thought I would share a positive pediatrician story here. Perhaps the over-aggressive vaccine schedule is starting to get to the peds. Great to see them questioning it!

Do you mind giving the name of your ped? I live in Michigan and am wondering if he is in the Detroit area.

Thanks!

Great story! My ds' doctor is in Grand Rapids, and refuses to give vaccinations. We are so lucky to have found him!

well I'm just thoroughly jealous. Mine doesnt even give the shots themselves, they have a nurse do it after they leave the room! I was disappointed the first time I found out my doc wouldn't even be present when baby had his first shot! (I started out selective & delay vax) and now I'm wondering, is that normal or not? I'd really like to know - see my other thread Im taking a poll

Do you think that your dr takes new patients?  Would you share the name with me via message?  Our peds fired us because we chose not to get the "kindergarten" shots. :(

Anyone in the Greater Grand Rapids area have a good doctor that will accept patients who skip the last shots?  Thanks.

Our ped is similar and it's great. The other doctor on the practice couldn't be more opposite. It's pretty crazy! And when I was thinking about S/D it was true that the doc does not give shots, it's the nurse. I think that's standard practice in most offices. Happy to hear your story!

do you mind saying who your doctor is? I'm looking for a new doctor for my 18 month old who doesn't push vaccines and haven't had much luck. Thanks!
