Of the 13% of parents who reported following an alternative vaccination schedule, most refused only certain vaccines (53%) and/or delayed some vaccines until the child was older (55%). Only 17% reported refusing all vaccines

Seems like a really small number of non vaxers.

For the parents using an alternative schedule, H1H1 and seasonal influenza vaccines were the most commonly refused (86% and 76%, respectively). Those most commonly delayed until older ages were for measles-mumps-rubella (26%) and varicella (46%).

13% of children are not getting the yearly flu vaccine and or are delaying MMR & chickenpox? Why do all the mainstream news reports and CDC people make it sound like there are just hordes of totally unvaccinated children out here making the diseases "come back" instead of examining the vaccines to see if they are still effective (has whooping cough mutated?- why are they now saying the vaccine is only good for 3 years? )

Even fully vaccinated individuals are at increased risk of VPDs if they reside in a community with a large proportion of underimmunized individuals. For example, a study from Colorado demonstrated that, for every 1% increase in the proportion of school-aged children who were underimmunized, the risk of pertussis infection among fully vaccinated children doubled.

So why wasn't the huge California pertussis outbreak with the infant deaths in Colorado amongst the pockets of underimmunized children?

Dr. Brady added, "As we have added more vaccines to the schedule, the families are not aware of the fact that, because of improvements in technology, the current vaccines have been made according to standards that are very strict, and we have been able to limit the number of antigens in the vaccines so that when we give the children multiple vaccines, they actually get exposed to fewer antigens than they did years ago."

Yeah, well the whole piglet wasting disease DNA in both the new rota vaccines was just a fluke I guess. Along with that lab accidentally sending the bird flu virus out to researchers  instead of the H1N1. Anyone know what he's taking about new technology and lesser antigens? All I can think of is that they stopped with the whole cell pertussis after all those children were damaged and the parents organized against it.

From LisaSedai's link:

The results of this study highlight the need to develop interventions quickly to quell the apparently growing concerns among parents about the safety and necessity of recommened childhood vaccines.

And what, pray tell, might those interventions be?  I hate to break it to you, but alterna-vaxxers aren't "scared," "misguided," or looking to Jenny McCarthy for answers.  (Didn't even know who the hell that was until I had my first baby and started looking into vaccines).  They're skeptics.  And as a word of advice, no amoung of "interventions" will CONTROL how skeptics think.  You have advocated for a grossly under-researched vaccine schedule that includes diseases that aren't even communicable in a school setting.  If you wish to force this schedule into the subcutaneous muscle tissue of every American child, the burden of proof rightly rests on your shoulders.  So please, keep this in mind as you "develop interventions quickly."

By the by, at the top of that page, I saw a huge banner ad for Merck vaccines.  Way to build credibility, gang!  thumb.gif
