Parents lose faith in flu jabs.

Really? Why?

Quote:

Health Department prevention and control public health physician Paul Effler said there had been insufficient studies into the safety of CSL product Fluvax before it was given to WA children in April 2010.

Dr Effler and Professor Heath Kelly, of the Australian National University, reviewed the regulatory history of CSL Fluvax and found it was licensed despite a lack of controlled paediatric clinical trials.

Then, surprise, surprise. Even though it was banned for use in children under the age of five, apparently, it's still being given to kids in this age group:

An investigation by The Sunday Times reveals that doctors have mistakenly given the CSL-produced Fluvax to 11 children in recent weeks, including two in WA.

I find it interesting that doctors tend to deride parents who are concerned about vaccine safety, yet they don't do themselves any favours by continuing to administer a contraindicated product.

And people wonder why some have no faith in our current medical system....whistling.gif

how many times do mistakes occur with vaccine administration, and the medical community's attitude is one of 'oh well, so sorry, but look, nothing happened to your kid, vaccines aresafe'..thus derailing any concern on the parent's part, because after all, they ARE the medical  community and they know best. bow.gif
