I've been reading about encephalitis and the resulting high-pitched scream following DTap vaccines.  Does anyone know which specific component in the vaccine causes this?  Is it the pertussis?  I'm considering getting my baby the kind that doesn't have the pertussis component, mainly because I'm worried most about tetanus, but if we don't know what causes this awful possible reaction I might skip it all together...  Thanks!

It's usually the pertussis component.

The drawback to getting DT is that it contains mercury.

dT, DT, Td are all special orders in most  ERs, clinics, and doctors' offices.

Doctors and drug companies have known since the 1940s that the pertussis component of the DPT shot, both versions, is neurologically toxic. The scientific literature confirms this.
