You go Amy....

If...If... you get to the point of deciding on surgery... Digging into the deep recesses of my cranial filing cabinet, I have a murky recall of a study I read which showed that cancer removed at a specific "time" in one's period cycle had better results. For the life of me I can't remember whether the right time was estrogen dominant or progesterone dominant.

Maybe Blessed remembers.

I read this very recently. I can't remember right now either but I know I can find the reference if Blessed or someone else doesn't have it. (It's in the bedroom where my ds is asleep right now so I'm not going to look for it.)

Wait, I've got it. This is from the book "Hormone Deception" by D. Lindsey Berkson, p.58:

"Some articles showed that if a woman was operated on during the luteal phase of her cycle (when progesterone was present), she had a better chance of beating the disease [breast cancer]. This was such a strong association that one researcher wrote a paper in 1997 suggesting that it might be wise for women going in for breast cancer surgery to receive a presurgery shot of progesterone to offset the circulating unopposed estrogen."

The two studies listed in the notes for the chapter are:
I.S. Fentiman, "Timing of surgery has major impact on survival rates for premenopausal breast cancer patients". Cancer 86:2053-2058 (1999)

and

I. Jatoi, " Neoadjuvant progesterone therapy for primary breast cancer: rational for a clinical trial," Clinical Therapeutics 19(1):56-61 (1997)

Amy dear, how are you doing??

The CureZone page on alternative therapies might be helpful:
http://www.curezone.org/diseases/cancer/faq.htm

Jordan Rubin's cure he developed for his grandmother RM-10 is interesting
(not much on this page, I'm reading about it in "Patient Heal Thyself"
http://www.gardenoflife.com/detail_rm10.shtml

Thanks for the reminder to check in

Things are okay. I'm in a lot of pain though and the whole area around my lumpy bumpy (as we call it) is swollen and painful. We have stopped the homeopathic remedy for now, and I'm waiting for further advice from my homeopath. Both of us are hoping/thinking that my body is trying to kill this cancer and my body has started a massive attack, hence the swollen-ness stuff

I'm keeping a positive attitude, but I'm in a lot of...discomfort...so it is a tad more difficult. Been reading Susun Weed's Breast Cancer book and feeling much more at peace. Trying to also formulate a plan of action re: supplements and teas that I want to incorporate daily and writing it down so I don't forget. Yes, I'm familiar w/the RM10 that Rubin speaks of. Unfortunately it is $80 a bottle, and I would be going through a bottle every 8-9 days (following his cancer plan in PHT). My good friend runs the HABA section of our co-op and we have been looking at another supplement by New Chapter called Immortal Mushrooms, at a fraction of the price and it also has some kind of process to help the body utilize & absorb the medicinal aspects of it. (I think Rubin uses fermentation.) New Chapter also grows their own stuff organically, vs. a lot of outsourcing that GOL does. At least that is how it was explained to me

Wanted to thank you for the note about when to have surgery in regards to my cycle (I had just read it somewhere as well--one of my cancer books I'm sure ), but w/the huge amt of nursing that is going on, my cycles are still delayed. Not sure where that puts me----w/the estrogen and progesterone. Thinking I have real low levels anyway though

My homeopath said the biggest obstacle w/treatment of cancer is the fear. I'm finding this to be true as well. I'm feeling and going through a lot of the same stuff I did before we decided to birth our last child unassisted. So, in a way, I'm primed for it.

My body is strong and I can do this.

Amy

Please don't worry too much about your own reactions and how they relate to what's going with the cancer. You don't need to be hard on yourself here. Nobody causes their cancer to persist or get worse. Please don't buy into that, dear. Sometimes things can just happen and it's nobody's fault. You're doing everything right.

Thanks for the update.

Sometimes local radiation therapy can reduce the side effects like pain and swelling. That might be something to talk about with your doctor if you need to. I'm sure you're reluctant to use pain medication while nursing.

Keep us informed! We care .

Hi mamas, just wanted to update.

I believe the homeopathy has shrunk the tumor, but it has now plateaued. After a lot of soul searching, I have decided to have surgery, thinking that if this is cancer, my body will have an easier time fighting off 100 cancer cells, instead of 6 trillion.

I'm having surgery this Tuesday. Local anesthesia, no antibiotics after (as per their policy). I am very upbeat and have no fears about this whatsoever.

Regardless, please keep me and my family in your thoughts on Tuesday

Amy
