My 3 year old daughter has a 104 degree fever, and says that her eyes hurt. I've been giving her water with sodium ascorbate, and trying to get her to eat steamed carrots for the vitamin A, and I also gave her a liquid multivitamin. The fever started last night.

She doesn't have roseola because she had that when she was one year old. I'm wondering what this illness could be, and if it is possibly a disease for which there is a vaccine. She is unvaccinated.

Try cod liver oil or liver, they are much better sources of vitamin A. The beta carotene in carrots has to be converted by the body, which results in a little less vitamin A than there was beta carotene.

Measles starts with a high fever, but so do a multitude of viral illnesses for which there are no vaccine.
