This came out in the shingles thread but I wanted to designate its own spot.

If a non vaccinated person contracts chicken pox from a person that is vaccinated and shedding does that strain of the virus provide the same immunity as contracting the wild virus? I thought that they were not considered the exact same virus. Are they the same and do they provide identical immunity?

From what I know they are the same. The vaccine virus is just weakened. Getting cp from a vaccine shedding kid, you would still get it via the natural route and by it passing through your body it would get back to the natural virus again. In other words the virus would multiply and get back to full strength.

The immunity that you would be getting would be natural, normal immunity.

This is my personal theory.
