I'm flipping through In Touch magazine (I'm addicted to rag mags) and I see this huge picture of a young woman (she's slightly blurred) holding an infant (not blurred). It says in big blue letters,

"I did it for Sophia
."

It then goes on to guilt parents into getting vaccinated with the newly licensed Tdap for adolescents and adults.

There's three paragraphs of information (with references) and at the end of the information it says:

Speak to your doctor about getting yourself and your family vaccinated.
Do it for your baby.

Isn't that generous of Sanofi Pasteur, providing a public service announcement and all?

It's probably good that I have to mop my kitchen floor, or I would be tempted to lurk here all day!

And of course, you know the day may never come when we see this in a magazine:
http://vaccinetruth.com/ but seriously, how sad that parents are being made to feel that they are stupid inadequate parents if they dont vaccinate...

uh, gross.

i've been getting rid of my magazine subscriptions, one by one. and each time i do, i send a nice letter written in red on the renewal notice, asking for a cancellation due to the inordinate number of pharmaceutical advertisements in the magazines.

it's my little way of sticking it to the man.

Click on the the link, then the photo's to read about how they "did it" for, Leah, Bobby and Susan too.

"They" would be the new parents, the grandma and the older sister.

hey look at it this way - with all the adults now getting vaxes (Tdap, shingles, flu annually, Gardisal), perhaps more reactions will be reported and people will start waking up. Adults can talk - babies can't.

: - yeah, ok, I'm off my rocker on this one. People will write it off as having nothing to do with the vax and the pharma machine will march on.

In Recent Years, Reported Cases of Pertussis Have Been on the Rise
It's a fact that there are five times more reported cases of pertussis today than there were 10 years ago. So vaccinate yourself and your entire family against pertussis. Do it for your baby.

yeah, cus they finally realized it never went away with the vax and are actually correctly diagnosing it now -- oh, and that they might want to sell more vaxes

and people will fall for this

Ask the People Who Spend Time with Your Baby to Get Immunized
To protect your baby from pertussis, anyone who spends time with your baby should be protected from pertussis. Don't be shy about asking people if they've been immunized and make sure they understand how important it can be to the health of your baby.

I love how they conveniently leave out the fact that there are millions mis/undiagnosed . . . and still only a handful of infants deaths annually.

I have no doubt that the promotion will be a success . . . for fear of your newborn dying and the parent causing it, coupled with not having all the facts, is a very effective motivator .

In fact, I could see this promotion really bringing families - er - closer, especially with the inlaws:

"Oh, you want to see Junior?

Well, all of you need to make an appointment with the doctor and get vaccinated with Tdap before you go near him because you're going to kill him if you don't."

But I'm sure Sophia's mommy is going to come off looking like Mom of the Year rather than a nutjob.

I think I'd say something along the lines of a worried, "Oh, dear, no, those vaccinations don't work well, that's why it's so prevalent- we had it, WE'RE IMMUNE. You'd better make sure anybody who goes near your baby is really protected by having had the disease itself, not that ineffective vaccine!"

This is my favorite part . . . you have to look at "about this site" and then click the logo, but it takes you to the "business" website, which says:

Quote:
Sanofi pasteur, the vaccines business of sanofi-aventis Group, is the largest company in the world devoted entirely to vaccines
I don't know, but when the people making all the money off the vaccine label their commercials as a public health service . . . because they're so altruistic, and it has nothing to do with all the money to be made off every family member of a newborn getting a shot . . .

Yeah, and everyone should start by asking their pediatrician.

Slightly off-topic, but I'm saddened by the choice of name for the baby: Sophia. This means wisdom in Greek.

So, is it a wise choice to inject everyone around a baby with a vaccine?

I was just thinking about that. Would anyone run the ads? Would Parenting Mag risk their sponsors? Probably not, we'd have to go maverick! I get so pissed when I hear any "Public Service Announcement," esp through a "commercial free" channel. Since when do politicians and beauracrats get a bye on their motives? When the gov sponsors ads, it always has a reason, and that reason is always...ITSELF. Same with a vax company, a car company, the Rooter Man, etc.

Not the SAME result...unless, along with your pretty little fire, you also injected yourself with numerous toxins and somehow put yourself at risk for s erious reaction.....hhmmm...perhaps while you are setting your $20 on fire, you could drink some antifreeze and then run around in traffic? That would be closer to the "same" thing....
