The outbreak occurred because measles was imported into a population of children whose parents had chosen not to vaccinate their children because of safety concerns, despite evidence that measles-containing vaccine is safe and effective," the CDC said.
Grrrrr...DD2 got very sick following her MMR vax just two months ago. It may be safe for some, but not for everyone. She was really sick, two different rashes, fever, lethargic, not eating. It really irks me that they make the parents of the kids who weren't vaxed sound like a bunch of morons.
I certainly wish I hadn't had DD2 vaxed.

Well, the way they get the evidence that MMR is safe and effective is to just pretend that no one has reactions. So by that standard your DD2 doesn't exist, or if she does exist she didn't have any problems from the MMR or if she did have problems following the MMR they were coincidental and unrelated.

See? Easy!

This well circulated story is old news, but I just feel that as more people join our perspective, I feel the armies of big pharma beating their drums and lodging pr attacks like this, more and more.

And the new flu study released today that projects 81 million deaths in a new pandemic!!!!

Right after they announce there is a surplus of this season's flu vaccine...scare the suckers.

Right, right...I'm still waiting on the bird flu that was supposed to obliterate the south east in August like a news channel in Denver predicted it would...

At the company that my sister works for, an overseas employee brought measles to Boston and it caused a sh**storm. Everyone had to provide their immunization (sic) records or get sent home, etc. etc. Funny thing is, people go into these big office buildings sick as dogs all the time, and no one sends them home. Not to mention which, the buildings are usually sick anyway. Anyway, I don't remember seeing anyone dragging carts of corpses and calling for the dead, but maybe everyone in the greater Boston area is completely vaccinated and therefore totally immune to infection

That's right! And don't forget the holiday parties.

But THAT'S okay though.

And besides they'll be gonhorrea and chlamydia vaccines available within a few years.

Yes, most who got measles were vaxed.

I mean it's sooo what's the word? ironic?, isn't it? Would it have mattered if the traveler was vaxed or not vaxed then when he/she traveled?

I know an adult here (Boston area) who was recommended to get MMR this summer since her immunity was "gone".

It may have been since she wants another child, but the MMR? Are they really recommending that adults get that, rather than rubella? Or, was that just a post-"outbreak" thing?

Thank you for the link--I do remember this discussion coming up in an earlier post.

In reading the link, it seems crazy that they'd offer MMR to any adult, let alone to someone who's just had a child! The friend I know probably had it pushed as a way to prevent rubella.

The CDC has begun a heavy push towards increasing adult vaccine compliance, particularly for women after delivery. Now, the recommendation is MMR, varicella and Tdap before you leave the hospital.
