I was looking at this ... http://www.flumist.com/pdf/patientinfo.pdf (from FluMist.com) ... which states (among other things):

Quote:
Each 0.5 mL FluMist dose contains the flu strains recommended by the U.S.Public Health Service for the 2005–2006 flu season:
A/New Caledonia/20/99 (H1N1), (B/Shanghai/361/2002-like) viruses. Inactive ingredients include egg allantoic fluid, sucrose, potassium phosphate, monosodium glutamate (MSG) and gentamicin sulfate. FluMist does not contain preservatives. A/California/7/2004 (H3N2), and B/Jiangsu/10/2003
So does it have thimerisol or not? Is there another list of ingredients that includes it? It says it contains no preservatives, and wasn't thimerisol used as a preservative?

And, thimerisol aside, what else specifically alarms you about the ingredients in FluMist? And what about the ingredients in other flu shots? Is there thimerisol in those? Trace amounts, or bigger amounts? Does anyone have any links to the package info?

Thanks!

there is no mercury in flumist.
it is a live vaccine administered into the nasal passages. the concerns with flu mist are shedding of the vax (causing secondary cases) and the virus being able to mutate due to the many live strains thrown together and the nice breeding ground provided (your body)

Flumist is a live vaccine, so it can't contain thimerosal. Thimerosal would kill the viruses.

What alarms me about Flumist ingredient-wise is that there could be all kinds of chicken viruses in there, too, since it's a live vaccine cultured in eggs.

OK, then I'm confused.

Why would this link -- http://poisonevercure.150m.com/ingredients.htm -- which was posted in an earlier thread -- say that thimerisol is found in all influenza vaccines?

And I know (from reading package info) that the adult flu shot my doctor's office gives has thimerisol.

Are some flu vaxes live and others inactive (if that's the right term)?

That is correct. I think only the FluMist is live, the rest are not.

OK ... good to know.

Does anyone know the name and ingredients of the flu shot they're giving kids too young for FluMist (including babies) this year?

Well, all the TV news stories about the big rush to get flu shots in Minnesota are showing little tykes getting shots.

Speaking of which, I actually heard a reporter say on the TV news last night: "Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate!" I was like, what, are you a f*&%ing cheerleader?
