I don't have the time to do the research b/c well...I have a terribly sick baby on my hands. I lurk here all the time. We don't vax. I've been babysitting a 4.5? month old who did get her vaxes 2 weeks ago. The parents didn't inform me I just saw the band-aids when I changed her diaper. Anyway, exactly 2 weeks later and my 1 year is horribly sick. Throwing up constantly. I started wondering if there was a connection. I want to say I read some where the rototeq is live? I'm very careful hygenically... Anyways, I guess I'm curious and thought this would be a good place to ask.

Rotateq is given orally, so the bandaids from the shots are not evidence that the baby got it. It is a live vaccine. It does shed. So there is a distinct possibility that your 1 year old caught it from a vaxed baby.

Thanks. I understand what you are saying about the band-aids but that's how I know she *did* get some vaxes and if that was on the list... UGH! How does it shed? I practically was my hands every time I touch her. Keep diapers seperate, ect.

Rotavirus is EXTREMELY contagious in and of itself. I would assume that the virus (from the vaccine) sheds through the poop (like the oral polio did). Even if you were super careful, there's still a chance it was transmitted

Here's me I married then we had dd15 , dd11 , ds10 , and then and now we and I blog!
