I have noticed some postings lately asking about MMR.

I thought I would pull together some threads that may be of interest to those who are deciding what to do about the MMR.

for us:
We chose not to vax our son and of course we did a lot of research and as always I support all moms to follow their gut.

but one piece of data that I found useful regarding MMR was the following:

roughly the cases per year in the US of the following
measles 40
mumps 600
rubella 300 of those
moms who caught it and gave CRS to their children is 25

and the united states population is about 200 million people!

and here is a link to find more stats...

I encourage others to add their own thoughts to this thread.

here are the archival threads on mmr

and some other more recent postings

here's my take on the MMR: i had a booster at 23, and promptly had grand mal seizures.
at the time, i was unaware that vaxes were more than just the virus (stupid, i know). now i know that the MMR has neomycin in it, and that is most likely what caused my reaction as i am allergic to almost all antibiotics.
so my advice to parents is always to at least check the ingredients and see if you have a history of reacting to anything in there. knowing to look for antibiotics helped me remove the IPV, MMR, and varivax from consideration. 3 fewer vaxes she COULD receive if i vax.
