We don't vaccinate. We have someone that comes to our home 4 days a week to help out and she got a flu shot. A week later we have all come down with a stomach virus. It doesn't matter where we got this virus really, it is mild and we are doing ok. But I was just curious and it got me thinking if we could have gotten it from her after she got the shot. The flu shot does not have active strains, correct?(she didn't get the flumist).

Thanks!

The flu *shot* is a killed virus vax. And the flu is not a stomach virus

Flumist *is* live.

I know that the flu isn't a stomach virus. But I thought maybe we could just have gotten something that wasn't the full blown flu. I guess not. It doesn't matter anyway, just curious.
Thanks

Most people I know who have had the flu shot have gotten sick afterwards. The side effects suck and the effect on your immune system leave you open to secondary infection.

I'm no expert on the flu vax, though, but I would read through the manufacturers booklet, as well as look up flu vax side effects and complications from another source.

Stomach viruses are extremely infectious. You could have gotten it from her (not from the shot, but because she picked it up wherever she got the shot), but you could have gotten it from the shopping cart at the store, on the bus, from the playground, etc.
