That is the only nice thing about insomnia, I'm up, and can start a new thread. I hope everyone else is in bed, sleeping well.

DH had a minor meltdown yesterday when he realized that baby would be here really soon. He tends to not think about things until the very last minute.

And I learned that my parents are going out of town in a week and a half. I'm trying not to be really peeved. My mom has been at the birth of both my girls and she is the one that I call when we need a hand. I have no one else to call that can drop everything and be over in 20 minutes. If this baby comes when either DD1 or DD2 did, then my parents won't be here. They are only going 4-5 hours away but there is no cell service there so it could be 4+ days before they can check in with me. We are having another homebirth, DH is entertaining the other children but we had planned on calling my mom to help if need be (and knowing DH, he'd need help) and then she would want to see the baby right away which I'm fine with. I feel like I can't say anything because she has done so much to help out recently between traveling with me for DD1's therapy trips, coming over right away when DD2 broke her clavicle a couple months ago, watching the kids while I had to get x-rays of my foot a few weeks back, taking DD1 over to her house through some of DD2's more nasty illnesses, on and on. I'm just sad that she would risk missing the birth for a camping trip, and then I have no idea what we are going to do if we really do need another pair of hands.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

I have been up for almost 2 hours. I've been reading disturbing news stories and finally realized I could check in here for other pregnant insomniacs ...

Both of my daughters climbed into our bed tonight and I was so uncomfortable. I kept waking up with (Braxton-Hicks?) contractions & back pain, then couldn't get to sleep because I was hungry. I stayed in bed for almost an hour before coming out for a snack.

Anxiety = Nightmares

Very subconscious, but ruined my night. I wish this experience were more tangible for my brain so that I could be more rational in my sleep!

I had a really scary anxiety dream night-before-last, along with horrible insomnia. Last night wasn't so bad; I actually fell asleep with Brynn when I put her to bed at 8:30 and slept until around 5:00-something. I'm sure I'll still need a nap today though.

Thinking about you, Leah!

Peony, I'm sorry you're possibly not going to have your mom's help. Have you talked to her at all, did she explain? Does she think she's not going to miss it?

Leah--hope it's soon!

Jenny--how are the ctx? Most of my insomnia is due to hunger, too. If I sleep all night I wake up starving.

I'm so ready emotionally for this experience and for baby. I'm trying to say I can wait, I'm excited, but I want to stay in the moment. Kiddos have swim lessons this morning and I have a mw appt. this afternoon. Going to try and enjoy all that

Peony: I second talking to your mom...maybe she doesn't realize how much you really could need her, sometimes moms like to actually be asked instead of thinking they are the ones intruding all the time...Since she has been so much help in the past and your worried about asking her again maybe go from the angle that your only asking for her benefit of being involved not just for you needing help. I don't know just thinking aloud here.

I too am ready emotionally, staying in th emoment is soo hard! I slept not so great last night, kept waking, having to pee and uncomfortable hips/back. I had quite a few BH off and on yesterday. I just have that yucky uncomfortable feeling which gives me hope things are happening as this is what happend the week before DD was born. My tummy was yucky this mornig, just had a few dry heaves, so better eat some food and hope it stays down. We have music this AM so hopefully that'll keep my mind busy.

I almost got up in the middle of the night and jumped on here too, but thankfully went back to sleep. I definitely did a lot of tossing and turning last night. To top it off, I woke up with a really sore hip flexor?? I don't know if that's what its called, but the area where my left thigh meets my hip is so sore and feels out of place. I have been going to the chiropractor and am going back tomorrow and I sure hope she can help, ugh. Maybe its from all the swimming? I have gone for a swim every day for the last 3 days and before that haven't been in a pool in a long time, so maybe that aggrevated it. I am not sure.

Thinking about you too, Leah!

Wishing you a wonderful baby day, Leah!!! Just think, you'll be holding your baby in your arms later today... ::

Today is the last "absolutely no baby having" day on the calendar for the week. After 9:30 this morning everything on the calendar can be cleared (though April 7th in the morning would also not be great, since it's also preschool registration day- hear that baby?). But how did my calendar get so full?! I keep planning life as if there isn't going to be a baby anytime soon, which is good for my mental health, I guess. Keeping busy at 38 1/2 weeks seems to ward off the late pregnancy crazies

I'm hoping that things picked up for you by now.

And for those who asked, I haven't talked to my mom about her not being here. The news that they were going out of town left me speechless. Last time I remember my dad wanting to go off (they travel very frequently, and are often gone 3 days a week) and my mom refused to do so from 36 weeks on, I guess I just thought that she'd do the same this time. I haven't been talking about our birth plans or pg really at all with her, so that might have something to do with it. I have been UPing this whole pg and have a MW that may or may not attend the birth, my mom would be really nervous if she knew of the plans and "lack" of prenatal care so I've been avoiding the subject when anything pg related came up. My mom is wonderful, always there when you need her but keeping her mouth shut when she doesn't agree. I didn't want to worry her about our plans. I do need to just talk to her.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

Joni - my contractions are normal again - just my belly tightening and making me think I have to pee. I was a little nervous about it during the night because we still have soooo much left to do.

I finally fell asleep again close to 5. My DP was waking up for work. I woke up around 9:30 because my poor daughters were playing around me on the bed, waiting for me to wake up. : I need to get motivated and take care of paying our vehicle tax & registering our van today. Nothing like waiting until the LAST day of the month. My 5yo dd has dance class at 2, so I need to get on the ball!

Feeling better today.Fear subsided. Read about half of Birthing From Within last night and helped so much. All I felt I could do yesterday was sleep but no more than an hour at a time!

Today I can feel little one on my cervix! Not on the pelvis bone- encouraging. And full of energy have to get this house picked up again other wise it'll go down hill and be destroyed by sundown.

Its snowing/raining here today so the thought of the zoo w/ds4 is out- really wanted to DO something today other than the sit and wait I've been doing.

Ok off to do laundry. Will probably be on and off all day!

For your sake, I hope it happens!!!! (Well early enough to be healthy). I was betting on one too - or maybe just hoping for one and I'm now 38 weeks 4 days and baby seems really comfy in there still!

typical My DH has been a little on edge lately...everything baby related he's stoked about, but I can tell he's nervous cause every other little thing sets him off.

Yep, yep. That's the answer. Since you haven't said anything maybe she thinks you don't want her there...also, since it hasn't been a big topic of conversation, maybe she has your EDD stuck in her head and isn't thinking about baby coming early...though maybe not since your other two were. GL!

Glad you're doing better. Birthing from Within is an awesome book. I can't tell if this little one is shifted yet. Shes was really wiggling around last night and I started feeling pressure in the cervix/bum, but only occasionally...so maybe she's trying but not there yet. I'm not sure if she feels much lower and DH can't tell from looking (but he's not very observant).

oh this totally sucks!
baby has moved and in a horrible position. He's actually moved up into my ribs instead of down engaging himself into my pelvis! Geesh, I think his directions are mixed up! I hope he gets it figured out soon because I'm having a hard time breathing!

I go in for my ultrasound tomorrow to confirm position of him, not sure what i'll find out now! Crossing my fingers everything looks good and is head down. I still feel hiccups low, so hoping that's a good thing.

I bought more maternity clothes last weekend! ...lol... I figure this isn't my last pregnancy, so they're an investment, right? That is how I'm avoiding feeling silly for buying maternity wear 2 weeks before my due date, anyway. I actually was really happy, I went to a consignment sale and several thrift stores and spent under $10 to get two more shirts and pairs of jeans.

N8 had a fun 1st birthday... his uncles made him wooden blocks and cars, grandma made him a lovely blue toddler bed sized quilt, grandpa gave him a tambourine like instrument that is long and sticklike instead of round, and we gave him a wooden block sorter and wooden xylophone (both from Plan Toys, which I've really been liking... we also have the three pronged block stacker they make).

I can't find my camera. : I'm getting a bit worried because I've been casually keeping my eyes peeled for it for a week, and then yesterday I spent quite a bit of time cleaning in the office and the car hoping to find it, and didn't. We were able to use DH's non digital for the birthday pics, but I really want to find my camera before labor/birth/baby... and the longer I can't find it the more I worry maybe it isn't just lost in the house, maybe I lost it somewhere else or it got accidentally scooped up into the trash or something.

Christian wife, busy happy mama to 4yo DS, 3yo DD, 15mo DS, and #4, expected next spring!

Time to rant about Target and their idiotic registry system. I had heard that it’s difficult to make returns at Target, something about a limit of 2 returns in a year without a receipt. So I was returning items off my registry and the girl kept asking for a receipt. I explained they were gifts and I had no receipts. She couldn’t continue without a receipt. What part of gifts/no receipt do you not understand!?!
I did most of my registering online because our Target is a little “rural”, so they don’t carry many of the items I wanted to return. (I did a lot of online registering.) You’re a nation-wide store! The point is to provide items on my registry that can be purchased anywhere in the U.S. I shouldn't be punished for receiving double items.
I’m near tears at this point and about ready to ask for a manager, when the girl asked for assistance from someone else. Finally! someone that knows how the system works. The secret is to print your Gift Purchase Log that shows all the items that have been bought off your registry. (Only available at the Target kiosk.) Then she scanned away and gave me a big fat gift card that I promptly spent at their store. So simple, if only their associates knew the system!

Yep, I didn't discover this until the second time I tried to return stuff. I was going to have them do it on DH's driver's license and the girl was like, why don't you just check your gift purchase log. The other lady never even mentioned it

I actually was really happy, I went to a consignment sale and several thrift stores and spent under $10 to get two more shirts and pairs of jeans.

: I did too. I have 3 weeks left and I literally couldnt take it anymore. I bought a shirt and shorts, at full price. Youre right though, Were planning on one more so its an investment!!

Don't get me started on Target! I'm glad it worked out for you. I didn't register there, but received a gift from there. Get this - we couldn't exchange it for store credit or anything if it was more than $35.00. The (our third) bouncer was $39.99. We were so frustrated!

My edd is 23/24th and betting on an early bird too!!! I was nauseated this morning, have had cramps and BH all morning and just feel like something is going on. I was miserable for a week with DD so expecting that to be coming any day then hopefully at least a 2-3 week early babe as long as she's ready!

I need to read that book! I'll see if my chiro physician can loan me her copy.

Its snowing/raining here today so the thought of the zoo w/ds4 is out- really wanted to DO something today other than the sit and wait I've been doing.
It's yucky here too, the zoo would be fun but we are just hanging around now the rest of the day too! I can't wait for true Spring!

I hope you have a good conversation with your mom. It can be hard when family don't understand your reasons for doing things differently.

well, went to the ob this morning, I went from 2 cm and closed to 4 cm and 50% effaced and soft in one week! Contractions have been getting more intense, and painful. Doc is gone from Tuesday evening through Sunday next week. Baby has to be here before then, since we don't know if the doc on call will be VBAC friendly, and doc says with as much changing as you're doing, it won't be long now. Come on baby!

s to everyone, I am going to try to clean off my desk at work today, so I can be home tomorrow! (No I didn't get my big list accomplished last night had a fight with dh instead, blah!)

goodmomma - Too bad there's time pressure to get the ball rolling, but it sure sounds like things are happening!!

I just can't contain my excitement about all the impending births here! Seriously! I'm due on the 19th and I figure I'll be late, so I've got a ways to go. That just means I get to revel in the exciting news of everyone else until my time comes :

Nothing to report. Ds1 is back to school today and I'm determined to at least start my paper today. I'm determined, I tell you! (after I waste more time perusing mdc and facebook, lol).
