Okay, this may be a silly waste of bandwidth...but I've seen several moms say "I need to remember to drink more water!" I know I'm in the same group and it's affecting my supply.

Maybe if we had some sort of accountability it would help?

Be back....

Okay just filled my 2 qt water container and put it in the fridge (I'll drink it more cold). And I"ve had 6 8oz glasses so far now...

I'm terrible about this too... I think the baby and I suffered last night because there wasn't enough milk and he was never satisfied enough to sleep more than two hours.

so tired

nancy is changing the way we talk

I am having a hard time keeping up with the thirst. It's been really hot her lately and I'm getting headaches even though I feel like I'm drinking water non-stop.

I found it helps to have something by your bed at night. Everytime I get up to nurse the baby I reach over and grab my water bottle (which has a bpa free straw) and drink a bunch, then fill it up when I go pee after feeding baby. It helps to drink at night because that's when I feel like I'm loosing ground. GL everyone!

This is my 6th straight year of nursing so I've developed a few tricks that work for me. Things that I do: always keep a liter of water by the bed, I drink before I go to bed, when I wake up in the night, and if there is any left over I down it before heading downstairs in the morning. I refill it and put it back so that anytime I walk upstairs, I drink more.

I keep a liter of water in the kitchen and living room as well. I use 1 L mason jars so I can just spread them around the house. I NEVER sit down to nurse without a full jar next to me, with a straw to make it easy. Anytime I walk by and see one of my water jars, I take a big drink.

I keep a small bottle of water of in my diaper bag, an 1L bottle on the floorboard of my van to refill bottles and another smaller one in my cup holder. I make sure that I drink at least the entire smaller one while I'm driving. even if I'm just dropping a child off at gymnastics, I can do half there and half back.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

I have no idea! I drink to thirst mostly, at times though I may not be thirsty but I can just feel that I'm dehydrated so I drink more then. I also do live at a higher, dry elevation which just sucks the moisture out of you. Pre-breastfeeding days, I had to drink 2-3L of water a day just to feel ok. I do drink juice, coffee, and my vice, one more natural cola a day.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

I drink a full glass of water 1st thing inthe morning with vitamins and again at night with vitamins. I fill up a nalgene so that I can account for how much I'm drinking and it must be gone before my next meal or else I drain it. Same thing if I go out during the day. I take a nalgene and it needs to be gone before I get home. I'm finding I lose ground at night too. I wake up crazy thirsty in the morning, but tend to just have a few sips of water when I get up to BF at night. Drinking lots of water also keeps you full and cuts down on the room you have for snacking when you're home all day long.

This helps so much! I had a total hormonal meltdown a few days after the birth and ranted about being thirsty all the time. Ever since then, DP is always setting full glasses of water beside me when he's home. I wouldn't recommend the meltdown part ... but asking your husband/partner to bring water during the hours when he's home helps a lot. I am forever forgetting my waterbottle or cup in another room.

Anybody else loving the fact that we can now drink a large glass of water without immediately having to pee?

This is acutally working!!!! Everytime I come on here and see this thread I drink more water! I acutally stop typing and get a big glass of water...let's keep this bumped up for all of us!

ETA: for those who feel they don't have enough at night... I on the other hand have an oversupply/ overactive let down issue that I acutally gag LO at every feeding. Anyone want some, I could probably spray it far enough to reach LOL I'm hoping the block feeding for a few days will help.

My first couple of weeks I had a horrible over supply issue. I had to hand express a ton before DS could eat because my full breasts actually made my nipples flatten! It does get better!

Here's my happy pooping recipe. LOTS of water (which you know). A bowl of oatmeal and an apple in the am and an apple and a small glass of prune juice () in the pm. Works like a charm. I usually eat another fruit during the day and leafy greens with dinner.

There's nothing worse than constipation after birth, in my estimation.

Thank you for the reminder. I can't even remember peeing today, not a good sign...

Me, too. I have tried block feeding with success. But here's the question: If I'm not drinking very much, why am I producing SO much? Is that weird, or is it just the way my body works?

I'm trying to figure this out myself. I mean, I drink water, but likely not enough. Certainly not the amount some folks on her are posting (Go Lindsay!). And my baby is still gagging her way through half the feedings. I'm block feeding now, too, to get rid of the green poopies. It's somewhat successful.
