Well, I WAS pg with twins, after transferring 2 embryos through IVF. At 6 weeks we saw both hearts beating beautifully, both measured right on. I was shocked at our 8 week u/s to find that one of the sacs was empty . Has anyone else been through this?

Happy mama to our miracle son Benjamin - 3/09 after a long road of infertility

I'm so sorry. I know it's very common. My doctor warned me about vanishing twin syndrome every appointment until my 11 week one. He said it happens with close to 70 percent of twin pregnancies. It's so hard to see that heartbeat and then have it gone. I do know that pain, even if I don't know the pain of vanishing twin.

I think there's a mama in the March DDC who also went through IVF and had a vanishing twin.

The path to IVF in the first place is such a difficult one, I'm sorry that you are experiencing this loss on top of having been through infertility .

We had a vanishing twin with our 2nd pregnancy. I began bleeding at 10 weeks and we found out that we had lost the twin and it was reabsorbing. We still think about it and get sad, but we are so thankful for our daughter as well. When she was born there was a twinge of pain as well. I am sorry you are goiong through this. It's not easy.

So sorry!!!

Technology gives us all sorts of opportunities... but sometimes the information isn't so helpful. Think of how many mamas this has happened to (pre-u/s days! ) who never knew? Just had a bit of spotting early on, and then had one baby...

Autumn (1990) Blake (1993) Zoe (2001) Dmitrios (2002) and William (April 2009) born still @ 39 wks - my 4ever
