Welcome to all the new mamas

Lotus - After DS was born, I honestly contemplated not having anymore for a while because my recovery was so horrid. This time around, I completely understand now when women say they want to do it all again right away. Its not going to happen for a while though, I'd like to put 2 years between pregnancies but I said that last time as well and only made it a year

Weight loss accountability - It took me 2 months to drop the 33 pounds I gained with DS and then another 6 months or so to drop an additional 25 pounds. This time around I gained back everything I lost so I topped out around 50lbs and ended up weighing exactly what I did when I had DS. So far I've lost 21lbs. and have another 30 or so to go, I'm relying on breastfeeding mostly.

I have no idea how much weight I've lost so far. I forgot to weigh myself last time I was at the birth center. But I don't know how much I gained total either, since my last month was all home visits. Maybe I should just buy a scale LOL
I do know that I am still 3 pant sizes bigger than pre-pg. I started walking in the evenings with dh--who also really needs to lose some weight, but we got derailed the last little while. I need to switch to am walks.

We gave away all our baby stuff after #3, which in turn made me fertile out of the blue. LOL. This time dh says he's getting a vasectomy, but hasn't done anything yet. After my labor, the idea of doing it again scared me. It was a long, intense ride. But now I keep looking at my sweet girl thinking, "man, we make gorgeous babies. We really should do it again." stop me!!! I don't think I need 5!

I will agree that the transition to 1 and then from 1 to 2 is the hardest. But then, 3 is hard too since you are suddenly outnumbered hand-wise. Mine was easier since my oldest was 6 when #2 came along. This one has been hard for me with a toddler. He is being very difficult! Screaming right now actually since I just told him not to hit his 4 yo brother.

Baby M recently got her pizza face too. I've been putting coconut oil on it which helps some. I think I mentioned that I'm worried about food allergies in her too, like big brother. I'm off of dairy and chocolate for awhile to see how it goes. She's not puking anymore. Not spitting up, PUKING! Ugh. I think I just said goodbye to dairy.

Well, today marks the beginning of my return to the "real" world. I drove the older kidlets to school this morning, and now I've got to clean house! I'm still planning lots of snuggle time on the couch.

I'd be up for a weight loss/exercise accountability thread, too. I'm actually back to my pre-pg weight already and wearing normal clothes! Woo hoo! I only gained 19 pounds and Theresa was 9 of it. (I guess that tends to happen when you're vomiting every day for half of your pg!) However, I still have weight to lose from my last pg. Ugh. My lovely, amazing friends have been feeding me after this birth, so I have been eating very healthfully. Soon, I'll have to start cooking again though! And, I really need to get back on an exercise schedule.

As for another one - oh heck no!!! I don't call this last pg "9 months of hell" for nothing! Although, yesterday on the phone, my mom said that dh better schedule his vasectomy soon because you are way too happy with this baby! It's true - I could TOTALLY do this part of it again.

I can't believe it is June.

I am back to the weight I was before I got pregnant this time, but I still have weight to lose to go back to where I was before my second pregnancy.

Jam 7, Peanut Butter 5, and Bread 2.

I'll join in on the weight loss accountability. I don't know what I'm down too already, I'll find out Wednesday at my 2 week followup. Once I know where I am, I'm planning on going back to weight watchers which always works for me to lose weight. I've been walking with the kids at least every other day for a little bit, and was feeling pretty good until yesterday. We had family over and I over did it with activity. I was so sore when I went to bed last night and woke up with a gush of blood this AM, so I'm back to restricting my activity a bit again.

As for handling 2 kids, DS is EASY thank goodness, because DD is a handful right now. If they were both giving me a hard time I think I'd run away. Either way though, we are done having kids. I'm terrified of getting pregnant again ever. I can't imagine going through the pain I was in those last few weeks again.

Yea - if I'm being truthful - my weight is still from before my second pg, too. Time to get moving!

I'm still over 200 lbs. : I can't believe I gained 50 lbs in 5 months. I'm planning to start working out myself. I have a "program" I used to do that I really enjoyed so I'm hoping I'll still enjoy it.

Going to sleep wihle I can. Only got an hour last night.

I will join on the weight bench, too! I am below my prepreg weight, BUT I still need to lose a lot more. And OMG! The apron belly is crazy! I could wear so many sizes less if I could get rid of this apron of hanging fat. *sigh* Sorry, TMI. Let's see...I gained, I think, 5lbs with G. Right now I am down 10lbs from pre-preg weight. I obsess over weight and that's not a good thing. I weigh myself about daily. I had prior eating issues and I guess it still sticks around. I weigh myself even when I'm not dieting or anything. So, I do need to be a bit careful about what I'm doing/worrying about weight wise. I've never lost weight while bf'ing so am a bit surprised that I have now.

I forgot to tell you guys, as worried as I was about NIP at the boys little league games, I have a funny. We were at practice Saturday and it was a long one (2hrs). G slept for a while, but then got hungry so I nursed him. We were under a tree b/c it was hot, but I had a lightweight receiving blanket over us just b/c I am extremely modest. ANYWAY, towards the end, the coach comes out of the field, came over to me and said "Oh, I haven't seen this little one, yet. Let me see." and started to pull the blanket away. I said "Oh, he's eating right now, just a second." and he turned bright red and said "Oh, oh, oh my...it's okay, I can wait!" G popped off and I pulled him out and he had milk streaming down his face. I'm not sure when the coach turned back to his natural color.

We have three games and two practices this week so I guess I'll get plenty of practice NIP this week. And can I just say that I LOVE the maya wrap for that? Seriously, no one can tell, I can still keep my modesty AND no one asks to hold him which is awesome b/c I'm not real comfortable with that until he's older.

That is funny about the coach, Asher I had a similar thing happen at Andrew's commissioning when Liam was around 3 months old. I was nursing in the Babyhawk and this Major wouldn't stop harrassing me about participating in it, even though I said I wanted Andrew's parents to do it instead while I tended to Liam. Well he came out and started talking to me in the hallway while I walking and nursing, and asked me if I wanted to do Andrew's bar pinning for the 100th time. I looked down and said "I'm kind of busy right now", and he was so embarrassed. Then he asked me if I wanted him to stand in front of me while I went up and did Andrew's bar pinning so nobody would see : Should have squirted milk in his eye.

I am more nervous about NIPing now than I was with Liam because I'm alone when I'm out in public and don't want to deal with confrontation. Laine isn't big enough yet to really get the hang of discreet nursing in the Babyhawk.

My dh was a Reservist, too - although he went to boot camp six weeks after we got married.

I'll join weight loss accountability! I am SO over this baby fat! I gained...and this is the only place I'll really be honest about it...about 50lbs. Not a good look for me. So far, I'm down 27 lbs, but I can already tell it's slowing down and I'm going to have to stop eating like a cow and start exercising. I tried doing yoga a few times last week but it made me start bleeding very heavily again, so I'm waiting a bit longer. I'm also wondering when the feeling of being kicked in the vag will go away. I don't remember it lasting this long w/ DD1.

NIP - I haven't even been out in public with DD yet...I've gone grocery shopping by myself many times, but I'm waiting another week or so to take her out...I am getting serious cabin fever though.

Chloe seems to be going through a very attached phase...she wants to be held a LOT. Also...Alicia, if you're around, she's started doing that thing your DS was doing..latching on, unlatching, acting frustrated. I think that now that my milk supply is (slightly!) regulating itself, she's frustrated that it's not coming out fast enough. Lol...make up your mind baby! Fast or not fast enough?

Anyway...time to nurse. Happy Monday! Holy cow - Happy June! wow...time to play DD1's 3rd birthday.

5 days pp and i've lost 15 i think, i dont have a scale here but when i checked 2 days ago at my grandmothers thats what it was, i'm relying on nursing like last time...

so dd is 5 days old and has a REALLY bad red chapped hiney we have been using pampers swaddlers and pampers swaddlers sensitive wipes, but i think that maybe a few diaper changes a grandma might of got ahold of ds' scented wipes accidentally not knowing we had special ones for her, anyway her hiney is raw, so i went and got pampers swaddlers sensitive and lansinoh wipes with method baby cream for her diaper area, is there anything else i can do?

A USMA grad?! My DH grew up a West Point, his dad retired there and was the dirt professor, he still works there as a civilian and my MIL works there as well. My BIL just finished his plebe year. DH is an ROTC grad and was a reservist in college, technically he's an active duty national guard officer but for all intents and purposes he's AD, if he doesn't stay AD he'll go back to NG in 2011.

I got DS to latch without pain! I had been trying for days with him refusing to even try and had given up. Something gave me the idea to try again and he actually opened wide and latched right on! I'm sure my supply is shot as I've been getting less and less with each pumping session, and I'll have to supplement and top him off with formula for a while, but maybe we're on the road to nursing successfully? And of course I just spent 50 bucks in Walmart on formula and bottles

YAY!!!! Hope it's the start of something promising! With lots of nursing, you can increase your supply - I know there's tons of information on the breastfeeding board about relactation (?) and such. Good luck!

i need to join the weight thread too. i am back up to my pre-have-to-lose-to-conceive. i lost 50 lbs to get pg.

i have lost 35 lbs, i think a lot of that was the insane swelling. I have to get back to the hard core regiment i was on before the pregnancy. Being fat annoys me

a little OT is anyones lovie smiling yet? ds is 5 wks and i've been getting fart smiles and 'previews' but no real smiles yet. dh is really looking forward to a visable emotion other then pissed

Liz-that is great news about your LO latching on! I hope you are able to get your supply up!

Military people are so strangle about pregnancy and breastfeeding! I am a musician in the military and I play for generals and higher ups all the time and no one ever made a peep about me popping out, but they STARED at me like I was a freak. My last performance was at 37 weeks I thought it would have been so funny to have my water break in front of them. It would have been a great practical joke!

Our photographer came today with our proofs from the newborn session, they are so beautiful! I wish we could get everything, but it is sooo expensive.

WE went out for lunch at whole foods today and I ate something I was allergic to (I know i'm allergic to eggs) I started getting itchy and it has spread all over my body now . I took benadryl, I hope DD doesn't react too badly.

We create our own reality.

Good for you! Like lightheartedmom said - your supply should increase with lots of nursing! One thing to remember is that your breasts are continuously making milk, so if you can - just lay around and have some really leisurely nursing sessions! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the two of you.

Emma had real problems with disposable wipes... if you can't switch to cloth, try rinsing them really well in plain water? Get as much no-diaper time as possible, and make sure she's really dry before putting on a new diaper...

that's all I can think of, good luck...

I caught my first pee!!!!

DS is not even 2 weeks, and I haven't tried before, but I just went to change his dipe before feeding him, and it was dry so I took him to the bathroom and held him over the toilet for a minute cuing him, and he went! He had the same sign my other son did: an erection. Actually with DS1 it was more that his penis would look "full" just before he'd go, but this was an actual erection; not sure if they're related or not. Unfortunately for DS1 who was standing there watching teh whole event, I was adjusting my hold on DS2, and just as he started to pee I wasn't holding his penis down pointing into the toilet, and so DS1 sorta got sprayed. He took it in stride though.

That's great about latching babies! : I hope it continues well.
I wish I could latch without pain. Not sure if it's thrush or just residual early nursing discomfort, but it still hurts to get him latched. The pain diminishes over the nursing, though between nursings they are sore.

We went grocery shopping today, all 4 of us since I'm not supposed to drive for a few more days [d*mn c/s]. I carried DS2 in the Maya wrap, and I was surprised that NO ONE commented about it or him. I DID have one older lady comment about one of my cloth bags that says "Love makes a family" with a huge rainbow heart. I don't think she realized it was referring to gay marriage rights... Oh well. I saved $43 on today's trip.

I need to join the weight loss accountability thread. I gained 50+ pounds. I've lost at least 20 already, mostly water weight. But I was also at least 20 pounds over before I got pregnant, so I'd love to lose a total of about 50 more. That would get me down to 150 which is still a bit above ideal, and a weight I haven't "seen" in years. *sigh*

Same here, DS was reacting REALLY badly to the disposable wipes. And they were the same ones I always used with DD and never had a problem. I've been using warm water and super soft wash clothes instead and its cleared right up.

I now have DD's cold Started right before dinner with the runny nose and now I feel like my head is going to explode. Ugh.

Mama Rana-that is awesome about EC! I am getting interested and have started reading up on it. We may take the plunge. We have the whole summer when DD will be with either DH or me. But what do people do when they send their kids to a babysitter?

We create our own reality.

Yay for you!! I can't wait for that moment! We're doing EC with Lucy too. Tonight I knew she was going to poop, but didn't trust my instincts so I missed it. I kind of stopped her mid-poop and tried to put her on the Bjorn potty and she HATED it. She's only 3 days old...so I'm not being too hard on myself

For those of you that are EC'ing...what are you using to go in? Bowl? Baby potty? Real potty?

Scootchsmom ~ yay on latching!!! :

Mama Rana ~ awesome on catching the first pee! My hat is off to you guys that do that. I'm not sure I'd ever have the patience or energy for it. Too lazy!

I woke this morning sick. Oy. Headache (as usual) and wicked. Hoping that's as bad as it gets and that no one else, especially G, get it.

It was 80 something degrees at DS's little league game last night and supposed to get up to 90 today. Not sure if I'll attend that one. It's so hot for G there. We brought out our umbrellas, but it was hard to keep him shaded from the sun, especially while nursing him! And I forgot to wear my tank under my shirt last night which probably made me a bit cooler, but more uncomfortable when nursing. Ah well.

Hope you feel better Asher!! Reminds me, I should still be taking my vitamins!

Liz- Awesome about the latching!! It was rough for us for a few weeks. I dreamed of bottle feeding but pushed through and now its way better!! Hope things get better and better for you guys!!

Mama Rana- props to you for EC!!

So- hope everyone subscribed to the weight loss thread since its been moved.

kriket- we're getting real smiles here at 5 weeks. My ds1 gets most of them. Although ds2 is suuuper smiley in the morning when he wakes up. I just love lounging in bed and making him smile!

Yeah, I need to get back taking my vitamins, too. I was really good when I first got home b/c I had a HUGE black and blue on my arm from the needle and pitocin. I bruise super easy. So was taking my prenatals and vitamin c as well. It healed up super quick then I forgot to keep taking them.

I just weighed G. I have a digital scale from when I did ebay so I put him in a box on the scale and then subtract the weight of the box. hehe He gives me such interesting "What the HECK are you doing to me, mama?!" looks when I do this! ANYWAY, he's up a pound from birth weight and about 1 1/2lbs from the weight he left the hospital at. Yay G! (He's 16 days old.) He still only just under 8lbs, but still! Not much longer and we'll even be parting with our Gymboree preemie clothes, I think!
