I finally got an appointment with the OB I wanted and went to see her today.

I haven't told you all, but 3 weeks ago, at my first appointment, the OB recommending a D&C for a blighted ovum. My gut instinct said it was way too early to make that call, (I thought I was 6 weeks at the time) and to not listen to this crazy doctor. So, I started looking for another OB.

When I met the OB, I liked her right away. I told her what had happened three weeks ago. She took me in, right away, for an ultrasound. We saw a healthy baby, with strong heart beat, measuring at 7 weeks and 5 days!!!!

The OB mentioned she was really upset with the other OB recommending a D&C. At that time I would only have been 5 weeks, even though I thought 6. I had even told that other OB that I was really unsure of the dates and she still recommended that I go back and let them kill my healthy baby. I'm so glad I went with my gut instinct and refused to go back to that place.

So needless to say, Aaron and I were thrilled to see the heartbeat and am so happy I get to work with Daphne (the OB). She also feels that there are no problems with my 'heart shaped' uterus. Everything seems to be expanding ok, thus far. A wonderful appointment, all in all.

She also gave me a new due date of May 6th, which is actually right around when I originally thought I should be due. The other OB changed it to April 30th.

So yeah, I just wanted to share my YAY moment with you all.

Wow! I'm so happy for you. I can't believe they would have made that call on so little information. That makes me sick! (But then it makes me very happy that all turned out well).

I'm so happy for you, that is wonderful news!

I'm sorry to hear that you had that encounter with that OB, good thing you trusted your instincts. I've heard the same kind of story so many times about OB's

I'm so glad you believe in listening to your instincts. I would really consider getting in touch with your old OB and giving him/her a piece of your mind. Me, I would probably go farther than that, but I've had some crappy experiences with doctors.

I'm glad you like your new OB, and that you got to see a healthy little bean in there!

Gosh! I am so happy for you that it turned out ok, but really surprised that a Doc would try and give you a D&C - what was the reasoning behind that?

V glad for you though babes, great news that all is ok.

: such great news!

I can't believe that OB. Talk about impatient! It goes right along with the mindset during a medicalized birth. They want you to hurry up and birth on their time schedule. ::
I have heard a story like yours many times on this board. I'm so glad that you waited it out!!

Wow this is just something I have never heard of in the UK - what is the justification for it?

way to go, mama!!!

rule one for being a great mama: trust your baby.

rule two for being a great mama: trust yourself.

rule three for being a great mama: tell anyone who doesn't respect rules 1 & 2 to go [insert word of choice here] themselves.

your baby is lucky to have you

Wow! I am so happy you decided to trust yourself and wait.

I agree that you need to report that OB, that's a terrible, huge mistake to make! I can't imagine how angry you must be! I would be chomping at the bit!!! I don't understand how they could treat a pregnancy so casually! Ugh!!

Anyway, you are a superiffic Momma! That baby of yours is well loved!
