Hi, everyone!  I just joined about 3 minutes ago and am really excited about all the resources I've seen already.  I live in the Dallas, TX area and literally in a matter of days my husband and I will begin trying to conceive our first child.  I've already got appointments lined up to interview midwives, and we haven't even started yet!  I'm so ready for this journey!  One of my favorite statements from the Business of Being Born documentary has sort of become my life motto lately: birth isn't a disease to be treated.  I'm still just on the tip of the iceberg of research to determine what I really believe on certain issues, but there are two things I know already beyond a shadow of a doubt - I am working with a midwife instead of a surgeon, and my baby will not be born in a hospital (unless absolutely necessary, of course).

I look forward to getting to know more women who are a bit... "granola" in their approaches to life.  I can't wait to see what knowledge and experience all you ladies here have to offer!
