Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am not a big forum junkie but thought I would give this a try. I am a mom of 7 children. Yours mine ours and someone else. I have 4 teenage girls ages 13-18 and 3 boys 7-9. Recently I have gotten a little boy age 9 with Cerebral Palsy and I know NOTHING about it. Not even sure where to start. I was hoping there might be a few moms out here with children who have special needs. I know absolutely NOTHING about CP. What doctors, types of CP, therapy, ect. I have to learn them as I go. If you are a mom or someone who can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful!

Welcome 2Blossom. You should find lots of support here. I'd check out the Special Needs Parenting forum. http://www.mothering.com/community/f/157/special-needs-parenting

Hi 2Blossom, my SIL has cerbal palsy(one hand is affected by it). Although I don't know much about it I know it didn't ever stop her from living a normal life. I do know that it's caused by lack of oxygen during labor/birth some doctors say kids born with CP may suffer educational learning difficulties, but my SIL excelled highly in school. Sorry if this didn't help. Hope all is well and u find out more info. About CP.

Thanks for the info. This little guy has a pretty moderate case of CP. He is bright and I know with the right resources and care now his future will be bright!
