Hi and welcome to Mothering. Sorry that it took so long to get answers from the doctors. I don't have experience with this particular allergy, but the ladies on the allergies forum were really helpful when I was trying to sort out things with one of my girls. You might trying posting there as well...
I wonder if he would eat these, which are made with coconut "milk" instead of dairy...
HI and Welcome to Mothering!
I see you got linked to the Allergy forum up above. I hope they have some good answers for you, that sounds really hard.

So sorry you had such a horrible experience! Doctors tend to dismiss symptoms of allergies in infants because they think most parents exaggerate their children's symptoms. That's why many kids go through a lot of unnecessary trauma before they're finally diagnosed.
My little girl was diagnosed with milk protein allergy when she was two months old and we have been on an elimination diet since the (I breastfeed so everything I eat affects her too). It seems daunting at first but it's really not that bad. The only thing is, you need to start making all your food from scratch. You wouldn't imagine how many food products have milk proteins in them! Read every label before you give it to your son and before long, it will become second nature to you and you won't even think about it anymore. My MIL got me a great cookbook on allergy-friendly cooking by Pippa Kendrick that I would recommend
Also, most kids outgrow milk allergy so I'm sure it will get better soon!
Donated human milk
Raw grass fed cow milk
Lacto-fermented fruits and vegetables
Eliminate all grains
Research gut healing diets like GAPS
Sorry, do you mean those are the things you recommend for milk protein allergy? Surely you don't mean cow's or goat's milk? Human milk is not recommended either unless the woman is on an elimination diet. I've just published an article on this: http://www.rootsbaby.co.uk/2013/09/how-to-tell-if-your-child-has-allergies.html. I hope this helps!
